The only problem was that it is a USBC and my existing lead is a standard USB. So how to use a an adaptor to fit in to charge by I pad?

It’s a plug and it charges… The charging time seems good to me, but that may be because my previous phone used a lightning cable rather than usb-c. It’s expensive but i think having the extra confidence that it’s less likely to explode or burst into flames justifies that. The folding pins is a neat feature and is useful when packing for travelling.
