4.0 out of 5 stars Good but heavy bag
In my job as a handyman I am always looking to improve how I keep my tools together and get them in and out of houses I'm working in. On any typical job I'm doing I always take in my 'handybag' - a small toolbag which is rammed with all of the tools I use most often. The problem is now that the bag is too small as I add more and more tools to my must haves, so When I spotted this backpack it looked ideal as it leaves me a hand free to carry other items I need. The bag itself is pretty heavy. This weight comes from the very robust way it has been made: there is a very thick flexible plastic base which not only protects the bag but adds a lot of weight. The bag itself is made from quite heavy duty nylon, it is not a flimsy bag for lightweight tools - its pro level quality. It is divided into 2 main compartments - one has loops and pockets for tools along with a removable "tool board", which I immediately removed to the bin: it is a piece of cardboard or similar covered with canvas with elastic hoops for tools - a nice idea I suppose but not executed at all well. It is very flimsy and in addition takes up too much room in the compartment. The other main compartment is more for a laptop/tablet I think and while it would work nicely for this, I'd be a bit reticent about having a laptop adjacent to a load of heavy handtools, just my opinion though. There are a whole load of other pockets and zipped compartments to pop tools in or hang them off so you can fit a lot into this small bag.As with all such items, the overall weight governs how useful they are - if they are too heavy to carry about (even on your back) then you are not going to want to use it. This bag is actually pretty well sized though, yes its heavy but its not so capacious that you can overfill it. Even when it is quite full of a combination of electical and plumbing tools it is quite movable, heavy, but not overly so that it cant be popped over your shoulder when you are carrying other cases in and out of houses. So, a very nicely made and practical sized toolbag. Its not cheap at almost £100 but in the realm if tool backpacks it is relatively mid priced. Is it good value? well that depends on your perspective. I reckon it will be pretty durable and its certainly a useful size to me but your mileage may vary.
5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant backpack toolcase
This is the feedback from my husband who works on his car on a regular basis and also works mobile.Normally he has to take at least 3 tool cases whereas now he only needs to pick this up along with any large drill case. This caters for all of his tools, cutters, long screwdrivers, precision tool, car-trim removal tools, spanners and the lot, all of this kept tidy in their own slots. The beauty of being able to keep all tools in their own slots mean that you can keep an audit of your tools, should you forget to collect them when closing up.It also has two internal slots for battery packs with external access. The base is very hard and will keep the bag upright from the ground. It also has a compartment for a laptop, however not for the thick juicy ones, but for a slimline one. It does have some padding, but not that heavy duty, however enough protection to safe guard your laptop. The zips are very heavy duty and will provide many years of hardwearing use. Naturally, with the field of work that this bag will be used in, it will get mucky and greasy. The fabric, stitching and zips will withstand a good clean with a pressure washer under low pressure.A good toolkit, recommended for any car enthusiast or any full or part-time mechanic, reduction of tool hunting, less tool bags to carry and less chance on forgetting to pick up all your pieces. It is a bit of a change to the way you work, but well worth the change.I hope this review has been of help.
