5.0 out of 5 stars 65w charger
As described. Brilliant.
5.0 out of 5 stars Compact high power fast multiport charger
The Ugreen 65W Nexode 4 port GaN charger is reassuringly heavy which may mean there are thermal management components inside. I also noticed that the charger carries the double insulation symbol yet it has a metal earth pin as well. The smaller size due to use of GaN semiconductors and the foldable pins make this an ideal travel charger. The charger has 3 USB-C ports (C1-C3) and one USB-A port (A1) and it is capable of supplying up to 65W of power which is shared between the ports. When charging a single device, the charger can provide up to 65W of power to ports C1 or C2, up to 30W of power to port C3 and up to 22.5W of charging power to port A1.It should be noted that if 2 devices are charged using ports C3 and A1, then the total output power will be limited to 15W and the voltage set to 5V. This is also the case if more than 2 devices are being charged, the maximum power output from either of those 2 ports will be limited to 15W in total at 5V.The charger performed really well, I managed to draw 57.5W when charging 2 devices from ports C1 and C2 and 56.5W when charging 4 devices. Charging individual devices was also very good especially from ports C3 and A1, the charging power from ports C1 and C2 was also good, however the values were limited by my phone and not by the charger. I did notice though, that I was drawing 4A at 9V, which has exceeded the specs, which indicate a charging current of 3A at 9V, this may be something to be concerned about. The charger didn’t get hot during my testing which indicates high efficiency and good thermal management. Ugreen is one of my favourite manufacturers, they make quality products.
4.0 out of 5 stars Well designed and useful.
Really nice design, as described. Good quality and feels premium. Charges my phone, watch and AirPods all very quickly. Very useful and compact for travel.HOWEVER, mine arrived in slightly damaged condition, where it felt like parts were shaking around inside. I assume I have a faulty unit but it does still work. Pretty happy with it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Solid/Dense Construction, Elegant Plug Mechanism, Performs As Claimed
This is a particularly compact and sleek multi-port charger. The body is plastic, but feels solid. Like most GaN chargers it's dense; heavier than expected when you pick it up, but not overly so. Fit and finish is very good; if not quite perfect, with some visible moulding seams. However the overall impression is of quality; as it should be for the full listed pricing. The swing-out plug mechanism is brilliant. It has a similar feeling of solidity to the body. The earth pin and live/neutral pins are evidently geared together, as pulling the earth pin out automatically unfolds the latter. This is sprung, so slightly retracting the earth pin results in all of them swinging back into the folded position automatically. Very smooth and pleasing to operate, with a flush fit when closed.I've been able to experimentally confirm the claimed wattages (which UGREEN explain elegantly in the product listing) by charging my Thinkpad and Galaxy Fold 3; both individually and at the same time in the various ports. With the Thinkpad in the top type-C port (and nothing else) it recognises the charger as a 65W unit as expected. Separately, the phone will report super-fast charging in the same port. Plugging in both at the same time drops the laptop to 45W and goes to 'normal' charging on the phone. The body doesn't get overly hot and I've had no reliability issues so far. With the current 30% discount, this is priced very close to UGREEN's own 100W variant of the same design, which would seem to be the better value.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good multiport charger
This is a really good multiport charger with 3 USB-C ports and 1 UBS-A port. The charger can output a total of 65 Watts. To get the full 65 Watts you must use either port C1 or C2 (the top two USB-C ports). If you have 2 devices charging from these 2 ports, in my testing it seems that which ever was plugged in first gets the majority of the power (around a 40/20 Watt split). The third USB-C port (C3) can output a max of 30 Watts and the USB-A port can output a max of 22.5 Watts. As mentioned above the total output of this plug is 65 Watts so if you were to have devices plugged into each port that 65 Watts will be split across the 4 ports. It should also be noted that this being a GaN charger, when plugging in or unplugging something to this charger there power will be cut for a couple seconds while the new output current distributed. I mention this in case you want to use this charger with something that needs constant power. I once used one of these with a FireTV stick but each time I plugged/unplugged my phone there would be a break in power meaning the FireTV stick would reboot.Another thing to note is sometimes devices don't charge when if you plug into the charger before plugging the charger into the wall. Unplugging and plugging back into your device should get it to start charging. This charger is a nice small sized, solid build and I like the fact it is not overly wide so it doesn't encroach onto other plug sockets or switches. But it is longer, so be aware if you plug this into a socket when it may cause an obstruction. This being a travel charger simply means the pins of the plug fold way which I love!Overall I love this charger and it will be my new go to travel charger. Ugreen is a good brand and one I trust having a few of their products. However this product feels like is straddles to categories. There is a Ugreen charger, same wattage with one less USB-C port for 2 quid less at the time of writing. Then there is a 100W version with 4 ports (3xUSB-C 1x USB-A) for a fiver more.Personally opinion if 65W is enough and you're not going to use all 4 ports go for the cheaper one with 1 less USB-C port. If you will likely use all 4 ports then go for the 100W charger otherwise you will be limited to around 15W per port vs 25W with the 100W charger.
5.0 out of 5 stars The charger is solid
Really happy with UGREEN branded stuff. The charger is solid, the retractable plug pins are great for making this a compact soloution to charging multiple devices. The charging ability for both phones and laptops is ideal. Really happy with it.
