5.0 out of 5 stars High quality visuals, chock full of features, no brainer purchase!
Video Quality:Absolutely amazing quality. With 4K, HDR, and HDR10 support, everything looks amazing. The colour definition and contrast is really good in any lighting condition (sunlight through windows, lights on, and cinema style dark). Used for gaming and streaming, didn't disappoint.Features:Dolby, HDR10, and 'Intelligent' settings means it changes the settings automatically based on the type of media you play on it. Android is pretty stable on it with a lot of space for apps.Sound Quality:This is the only area it could be a bit better. As long as you set the right EQ settings, sound is not too bad. Also able to use with my bluetooth earphones so late night viewing is a great experience.Value for Money:Hands down the best value for money of any TV in the world right now.
5.0 out of 5 stars Far exceeded my expectations - A great set of features for the price
I really wasn’t expecting much when I bought this T.V. but it has really exceeded my expectations.I think a good quality set should last you a minimum of 5 years, so generally speaking I tend to go for the higher end brands. My main living-room set has easily done double that time now but cost well over £1000 when new. I have bought cheaper brands in the past for the kitchen or kids bedrooms when they were younger, but as this was going in our bedroom it would have to be pretty close to the living-room in both size and quality.Once our old set packed up I went through 3 different T.V’s in as many months that were all around the £500-600 mark and was becoming very frustrated. Time and money was not on my side so I thought I’d have a look at the Black Friday deals.I knew I wanted an android based TV but was worried that this would push me into the higher price bracket again.I had looked at a few sets similar to this one that ran either FireTV OS or Android TV but the price had me worried about performance, these cheaper T.V’s tend to have low power processors making the operating system almost unusable. But the reviews were generally positive and the money had started to dwindle, so I thought it’s got to be worth a punt and Bolos return policy has me covered. To say that this T.V. surpassed my expectations would be an understatement. I really did not expect to still have it longer than a few weeks, but we are fast approaching a full year without any issues. The T.V. itself has a basic design, it fits fine in the bedroom in an unassuming manor, but when lifting it up there’s a definite lightness and cheap plastic feel. The remote control is the first indication that this T.V. punches well above its weight, it’s a sleek and well thought out design with some popular app shortcuts.During setup I was quite surprised at how snappy everything seemed, I had some concerns that it would slow down over time as more apps etc. are added, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.I did disable some of the TCL apps and auto functions and only signed in to the apps I knew I would be using regularly. After 11 months everything is still running quite snappy. The picture and sound quality are also great for the price point 4K and HDR10 make for a great viewing experience. I’m currently running a SkyQ box through it and everything is crisp and sharp. Usually it’s the sound department where these cheaper sets usually fall down and require the use of a sound bar, but I’m more than happy with the quality and output levels and don’t feel the need for extra sound for use in the bedroom.Overall I’m really happy with this purchase. It’s really handy having everything built in eliminating the need for additional boxes and remotes.Everything about this T.V. has been better than expected and for features vs price point and I would definitely look at TCL again in the future.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good price & features
Brought this as a replacement for my elderly parents.Price, size and feature list are good, everything seems to work as it should however, from time to time (and whether its the TV itself or the operators I can't say) things seem to go awry - most recently, for example, I was summoned only to find it had switched/been switched to 'shop mode' (the advertising pop-up hiding the picture). The few times I've watched it for any length of time, I've found the picture quality to be ok, and it's certainly loud enough. Remote's simple and well laid out.
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing TV for the Price, you cant go wrong
So I had to replace my old Sony Android TV as the screen started pixel burning for some reason and saw this one and liked all its features/specs so I ordered it.Its a great TV on a par with my other old Sony Android TV, the picture is great on 4K Video and 4K gaming and the Android TV UI is smooth and fast and I am able to install all my IPTV apps from the Google Play store. The sound on the TV is better than my old Sony TV and has great sound quality the Dolby Atmos is good and the bass levels are great and not to tinny. I have a sound bar I could plug into it via optical but the sound is that good that I don't have to use it.Also its very light compared to other TV's I have so wall mounting it was a piece of cake. The motion clarity is good too and the 4K picture is amazing with lots of setting to change if you want to get it perfect for your viewing needs. The remote is good and comes with Google assistant button so you use your voice which works really well. For the price for a 55 inch Android 4k TV you cant go wrong and definitely will be looking at TCL TV's again in the future. I am well impressed.
5.0 out of 5 stars Big telly is big!
Pros: easy to set up; picture is sharp, vibrant, and bright (I couldn't find an actual figure, but it seems to be around 1000 nits peak); smart features are responsive; built in speakers are better than expected - not great, but serviceable; latency in gaming mode is pretty good; build quality is good.Cons: there's a small amount of light bleed in deep blacks; motion smoothing is on by default; picture controls aren't all that comprehensive (no gamma, no individual RGB adjustment, etc.); remote could do with a backlight (although you can use the Google TV app on a phone as an alternative).Overall I'm more than happy with it, especially considering the price. Obviously it's not as good as a high end OLED but then it's a fraction of the cost!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great value TV
Purchased this for £280 on prime day.It is extremely light, the interface is smooth and the picture quality is great. Easy to wall mount as mounting area on TV is flat.My only quibble is that Dolby Atmos was enabled by default - and this just didnt work acoustically for our office. So disabling this massively improved the sound quality. So be aware of this if you struggle with sound quality try changing the settings around.
