One side of the plastic/velvet chess piece mould has come off on arrival which I have glued back on and both halves of the board do not line up 100% with each other as other people have mentioned.Pieces are nicely weighted and nice finish.Felt bag is a plus for travelling.

An Excellent, inexpensive chess board and pieces. I was expecting a lower quality product for the price point given the way it looks. Yes, as others have mentioned, you have to remove all the pieces before playing (including the checker pieces), but this isn't that big a deal, unless you are playing on a small surface, in which case you may have problems with the board sitting straight if all 4 corners don't sit flush on a flat surface. I also found it interesting that a full-size chess set has an additional Queen in the set, the ones I have purchased in the past (albeit a very long time ago) never had an additional Queen, so I found this a pleasant inclusion.

This is a truly beautiful chess and draughts set. The size of the pieces in relation to the board is perfect. Often the pieces are too large or small but in my opinion these are just right and lovely to hold. The board is beautifully made and lies flat when opened up to play. I also love the way all the pieces are stored away when the board is closed and the clasps that hold it together are top quality and look lovely too. Highly recommended and great value for money.

Great product have had hours of fun teaching my son chess and checkers. Pieces and set are well made, I really like that all pieces have there own place to store to ensure no go missing. My son love setting up and has read the guide many times helping him learn quicker.
3.0 out of 5 stars Misleading images & let down by quality control
I have mixed feelings about this product. It has the potential to be really good value but is let down by poor quality control. It's packaged very well and the pieces are mostly quite nice but a couple of bishops were badly warped in the set I received. There was also a large chip of veneer missing from the side at one corner and the round over edges leave raw mdf showing through, something they've clearly disguised in the images, especially on the top down views. Mine was also missing the patented leveling catches shown in the product description. All things considered, it's probably all you can expect for the money really but it falls short of the quality I was hoping for and the attempt to deceive with the product images really annoys me.

Beautiful chess set, for the amount paid. Packaged to perfection. All pieces made without defects. Board is super precision finnished and made to absolute perfection. The handbook that comes with the set is well done and the packaging includes some artful high quality stickers that are made for kids to entice their play, and make the game fun for them. This is a credit to the maker since the game does have a fun side when played as a family. There will be happy memories made with kids they will keep forever. What a great gift to pass on.

O conjunto é bem feito. O tabuleiro bem construído. O interior de plástico, forrado com papel camurça que serve para acomodar as peças é bem frágil. As peças pecam no acabamento. Péssimo controle de qualidade. Como sou muito detalhista tive que fazer vários reparos, ação que seria desnecessária se houvesse um controle de qualidade por parte da empresa. Fiz a retocagem da pintura do Rei que veio com uma parte descolorida, e precisei aplicar mais duas demãos de preto fosco nas peças negras, que apresentavam tonalidade esbranquiçada. Também tive que colar novamente o case de acomodação das peças que veio solto e com uma pequena rachadura, e por fim tive que polir as peças e o tabuleiro. O conjunto sem dúvida é bonito esteticamente, mas não vale o preço pago, que incluindo os impostos ficou em torno de U$ 170,00 (cerca 830 reais ao câmbio do dia). Consideração final: péssimo custo benefício. Não compraria novamente.
A Very Good Chess Set For the Price
Begin at the Beginning: This set comes very nicely boxed. The cardboard box containing the set is enclosed in a good quality slipcase. Within the box is the protective carry bag containing the board, with the chessmen safely ensconced in their fitted flocked holders within the folded board.The protective carry bag is very well made with a sufficient area of velcro closure to ensure easy and secure closing...not a thin strip of velcro, as some products have, but a wide and sufficiently long strip.I examined each chessman, searching for defects in carving. They were all uniformly carved, and without structural damage. I was happily surprised by this as I was not anticipating quite such good quality for wooden chessmen in a set in this price range.The chessboard is sized appropriately to the chessmen. (In a properly-sized chess set, 4 pawns should be able to fit within one square, with the edges of their bases barely touching the lines of that square.)I did find 3 flaws in the chessmen not relating to structure, but each flaw was readily and satisfactorily amended. The felt on one white pawn had been misapplied, folded in half. I carefully unfolded it and the original glue was sticky enough that I could reapply the felt properly and without difficulty.The two black queens each had several white spots visible on the serrated edges of their coronets. (The matte black stain of the black chessmen is apparently applied over a very light wood.)These were readily covered by a black Sharpie pen and the repair is unnoticeable even at a close viewing, the ink of the pen matching the black stain precisely..The white chessmen appear to be also made from the same light wood, with a light yellow ochre stain applied over that. One pawn had a spot of white showing at the top of its ball, and a small band near its base where the stain failed to take. This was readily remedied with a brown colored pencil, lightly worked on the wood and blended into the wood with a thumb.. Again, the repair was satsfactory and sufficient, unnoticeable upon close inspection.The board is very nicely made. It indeed lies perfectly flat as advertized, with four minute metal feet contacting the table it rests upon.The instruction manual is very nicely done, with a clear presentation of the rules of play even down to mentioning the relative point value of the chessmen, which valuation closely accords with world chess champion Emanuel Lasker's assessment. A number of chess openings are detailed with diagrams showing the first several moves for each side.And, for the kiddies, three sheets of attractive stickers were included. While I am uncertain if it is wise to include stickers in a chess set which some of the younger players might be tempted to desecrate the nice wooden chessboard with, only to regret having done so five or ten years later, the stickers are fun and will doubtlessly find their use.(Please note that this is not a tournament sized chess set. You would need the permission of both your opponent and of the Arbiter to use this set in a rated tournament. It is perfect for any other play-situation, though. )This is a very good chess set for the price. I have played chess for over 55 years and in that time have owned both plastic and wood sets, some costing several hundred dollars. Despite the few readily amended flaws mentioned above, I am quite happy with this set. I hope to buy copies of it in the future to give as presents to friends and to new converts to chess 😊. I also anticipate that the manufacturer will have a bright future and wish them every success.

Magnífica relación calidad-precio.
Parece mentira que por este precio te den este conjunto de ajedrez. Estuve a punto de comprar otro de una conocida marca, de plástico de buena calidad, plomado, con damas extra y el diseño de las piezas del campeonato del mundo, por casi 60€ (casi el doble de lo que cuesta en su país de origen), pero me pareció un abuso por un ajedrez de plástico con el tablero de cartón. Por menos de lo que puede costarte uno de plástico de los buenos tienes este precioso ajedrez de madera con unos acabados más que dignos. Creo que acerté al comprar este.Las piezas son preciosas y el diseño del caballo es fantástico. Trae dos damas extra, lo que es muy de agradecer. Las piezas tienen el tamaño perfecto para el tablero con el que vienen y además están plomadas, con lo que su reducido tamaño se ve perfectamente compensado con el peso extra. Como es lógico hay pequeñas imperfecciones y diferencias entre piezas, casi imperceptibles en un vistazo rápido, pero para el precio que tienen están muy bien acabadas y sin defectos que destacar. Quizás lo único que parece que pueda deteriorarse con facilidad es el tintado de las piezas negras, pero habrá que ver con el tiempo.El tablero de caoba es otra delicia. El escaque es de 4cm, es decir, 32 cm cuadrados totales de campo de juego, más 3cm de marco por cada lado, por lo que puede resultar algo pequeño para algunos. Evidentemente no es el tamaño requerido para torneos, pero es un tamaño ideal que mantiene un buen compromiso entre la facilidad de transporte o almacenamiento y la facilidad a la hora de jugar y mover las piezas. El tablero queda perfectamente asentado y plano al abrirlo quedando perfectamente nivelado y uniforme. Viene con una bolsa de fieltro hecha a medida que lo protege a la perfección.Es un gusto el tacto y el olor de la madera al abrirlo. Sin duda es un buen conjunto que recomiendo tanto para regalar como para los aficionados que quieran tener su primer ajedrez de madera y fácil de llevar a un precio imbatible.
