We've been playing Hitster with our friends and their children, and have found it to be brilliant. We've also discovered lots of music and artists that we had no idea even existed. Not all of it great! I'm very good with 20th century music but modern stuff seems to be completely alien to me, ha ha! The kids, however, are great with 'new' (as in post 2000) music. It's actually really interesting to discover each other's musical knowledge.We have a big family get-together soon, with a broader range of ages, so we're planning to take this game along, especially as everyone is very into music. Should be lots of fun! And that's something else I really like about Hitster - that it can be played with a large group of people, and not the usual 4-player scenario.The game mechanic itself is very simple; download the free Hitster app to your phone, scan the QR code on the card to listen to part of a track, then decide where on your musical timeline it fits. Your opponents can challenge you in order to win points.By the way, you don't need to have Spotify (free or paid) to play this. Our friends don't have it but Hitster worked perfectly well without it.

Had so much fun! Everyone in our family from 7 years old up had a blast playing it and we couldn't stop at one game. Easy to play and very very addictive. Can't wait to play again tonight.

No music knowledge really needed for its much of a guessing game, played with our grand-children who are 13 and 11 , their parents and us and yep-real good fun. Lots of wows, oohs and sing-a-longs BUT must have a mobile 'phone which this game, cannot be played without.

Party Game for Music Fans
The concept behind this game could not be simpler. You start with a single card in front of you with a date on in. Next, you scan the top card of the deck in the Hitster App, and it starts to play a song. Now, you guess did the song playing come out before or after the year on your starting card. Put the card in the spot corresponding to your guess, flip the card, and celebrate being right or commiserate in being wrong. Next time around, your timeline is a bit more complicated but the gist stays the same. Find the spot in your timeline the new song fits. This game has worked well for my family and friends and covers a good variety of musical genres. Only issue is I wish there were a physical rulebook not just a digital one in the App so if you play more advanced variants you can quickly reference the manual.This is a great game for all ages and can expose you to your old favorite songs or one hit wonders you may have forgotten.
