5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic tripod.
Fantastic and very adaptable tripod that's super sturdy and is perfect for professional photography. Unlike my last tripod, this is all metal and provides a very stable base, even at full height, for my Nikon Z5. Excellent value too.
2.0 out of 5 stars Heavy duty tripod
Nice heavy tripod, ballhead seems a little loose and wont tighten much but i can live with that i guess. EDIT LOOSE BALLHEAD NO MATTER WHAT, adjuster for the movement of the tilt for swiss arca plate unscrews and doesnt adjust anymore, for the price would think it would have lasted longer...will be looking for another better make soon :(

An awesome Carbon Fiber tripod for serious amateurs at a great price!
Using an aluminum tripod in the desert area of the US has been a challenge this summer because sunlight here quickly makes handling black aluminum tubing really challenging to say the least. This alone made me desire a Carbon Fiber tripod! No more cursing after scorching fingers and hands when repositioning tripod legs to get that perfect shot!I had purchased the Joilcan H78 Aluminum tripod earlier this year and am so impressed with it that I purchased the carbon fiber model as soon as it was introduced. I already know the Joilcan reputation by owning one, so this was an easy purchasing decision for me.This is going to be a fairly long review because my hope is that I can give you some answers to questions you might have without endlessly scrolling through page after page of reviews for hours on end. I have gone through this same process many times, before finally giving up in frustration not finding answers to my own questions. So in this review I give you my honest assessment of this Carbon Fiber tripod and hopefully provide a guide for you to use as you consider a new tripod purchase. These tripods cost too much for us amateurs to purchase and then realize after a short evaluation, we made a bad purchasing decision. Now here are my observations having used this tripod for a few short weeks.Build Quality:All components of this tripod are of exceptional quality. From the legs with the metal spikes and adjustable rubber feet all the way to the top of the ball head, all parts are made from quality materials and seem to be manufactured very well. The quarter turn leg locks mechanisms are smooth and tight with zero slippage. Each leg has a built in spike that can be exposed at will by screwing the rubber feet up and out of the way. I do need to caution about scooting the tripod across concrete floors, they will make a mark. There is a nice heavy spider that allows for independent movement for each leg. The center column is a standard 2 piece column that provides variable height extension for times when just a little bit is needed, just keep in mind that extra height has an instability trade off. The twist lock controls on the center column works the same as the leg locks. The ball head locks tight in almost any position with minimal pressure on the locking knob and the larger diameter ball means you have better control when using your larger cameras and rigs. The ball head has the standard cut in the side so that it can provide vertical and well as horizontal camera positions. The ball head has the ability to rotate 360 degrees and has graduated marks every 6 degrees for use in panoramic shooting. The Arca-Style plate locks securely and has a ¼-20 threaded screw for securing camera and has stop pins on each end of the plate. For most situations I use the included plate, but the head can accommodate most standard Arca style plates as well. I use a Colorado Tripod Plate on my larger Nikon camera simply because I need the strap hook for a wrist strap. There is a bubble level on the top surface of the ball head, but like most tripods on the market, it is nearly impossible to use while camera is mounted.Ease of Use:I used this tripod extensively for the last several weeks and have absolutely put it through some grueling situations. In that time and in every situation the leg extensions worked smoothly and locked into place securely. The independently adjustable legs make for quick setups and the quarter turn leg locks make for simple one hand operation. I do love the larger size ball head! It is smooth and locks into place and never lets the camera and large telephoto lens sag out of position after setting. When finished shooting, raise the main section of center column to its uppermost position then simply flip the legs up over the spider to conceal the head between the legs for a little protection.Stability:Lets face it, stability is the main objective when you’re using a tripod, so I mounted different camera and lens combinations to ensure it was steady under various conditions and on various surfaces - interior areas included hardwood and carpeted floors - outdoors on cement, pavement, desert terrain and lastly my grassy backyard. The tripod was very stable in all situations. I was skeptical that the tripod would be stable when using all leg extensions, but even with my heaviest DSLR and 300mm telephoto it was rock solid. I did play around using the center column extended to see how stable it was and did have some movement at that point, but I never felt that it was in danger of toppling over, even without using weighted bag on the ballast hook. With the tripod at its tallest leg extensions I never felt that our heaviest windy days would knock it over either.Versatility:I evaluated how easy it was to operate tripod by working with each of the three leg angles, extending each of the four leg sections and checking all of the twist-lock mechanisms and adjusting all leg angles, which there are 3 angles to choose from. The legs are fairly snug from manufacturer but can be adjusted to your needs with the included wrench. And just for the record when you finally realize you've lost the original wrench, any standard size 5/32” hex-head Allen wrench available from nearly all hardware or automotive supply stores will work. In some situations where the ball head needs to be swapped out with a different type head such as a dedicated panorama head or a macro rail the tripod has a reversible ¼ -3/8 inch screw. Simply remove the head and change to the appropriate thread type., usually 3/8 inch.At this point I am going to address one of the things that I am going to modify on my tripod, the wrist strap. I hate when I use the center column in the reverse position where the head is facing down and the strap is flopping into the path of the lens on my cell phone. I will be removing the current strap and replacing it with a modified ¾ inch strap and buckle so that I can just remove when not needed or kept in camera bag until it is needed. I can only see using it when the the dedicated leg is removed and converted to a monopod anyway. The strap is installed using a plastic ring around the center column which is easily removed after the ball head is removed.I wont be using the monopod functionality the tripod offers, but some of you may. So this is a good time to bring up the macro center column included in the accessory bag. The macro column is a 3-3/4 inch metal tube with 3/8 inch threaded insert in each end. The column is very useful in that it can be used as an extension to the center column to slightly increase height in both the monopod and tripod configurations. It can be used on the bottom of the center column to help lower the center of gravity when using the weighted hook. It can be used alone for macro shooting with the ball head or macro-rail. It is especially useful when you need to get to the lowest possible positions when shooting in either above or below the spider column for wildlife shooting. I have been keeping it installed on the tripod so that it is always available without requiring the need to dig into my camera bag.Head:This tripod has the same large ball size as their 80 inch aluminum tripod, which I have long become a fan. The head is strong enough to handle a large full frame DSLR with a heavy telephoto lens. The ball locks effortlessly with minimal pressure on the knob, the exception being a little more pressure required on the knob in order to securely hold at some positions. During position changes it moves smoothly with no excessive drag when using a cell phone and lighter rigs. My heavier cameras moves very easy with the least amount of pressure change on the locking knobs. In both cases with light and heavy loads it locks securely. It has an included Arca-Swiss type mounting plate that works very well and has pins on the underside at each end of the plate to keep it from sliding off either side of the head. The first few times I used small cameras I found it a bit tricky to install the camera mounted plate at night shooting the stars but you get used to it after a couple times. One thing that I really appreciate about this head is that it opens wide enough to accommodate almost any Arca-Style plate.Pros:Special Macro Center Column included which I find immensely useful.Nice padded storage/carry bag.The 5 year limited warranty! So much better than the average manufacturers 6 month to 1 year.Cons:The strap: Not my favorite type. I would prefer to be able to just undue the strap with a buckle and remove it without having to disassemble to head first.Would prefer to see an accessory port on the spider. That would have rounded this out to be my perfect tripod! Conclusion:In my opinion this is a great tripod for avid amateurs at any stage of their craft. It is a good overall tripod for everyday shooting, especially in desert terrain. If your are considering Carbon Fiber, I think you can’t go wrong with this one.
Amazing value
For its price, really amazing tripod, versatile as well
Quality Tripod for a variety of shooting situations
The media could not be loaded. I was excited to buy this tripod because not only is it a reasonably priced carbon fiber tripod, it also has a ton of different setups for all sorts of shooting situations—and I was not disappointed. The only issue (super minor) I had was when I first unboxed it, I was a bit confused since the packaging stated it was aluminum—but based on the sturdiness of it, I suspected it was just had the wrong box. I contacted the seller and it turns out that they were sent to the warehouse in the wrong packaging and so they didn’t have time to fix this error; they stated in the future, the packaging would be corrected. Some of this tripods great features are the number of configurations it can be made into: tripod, monopod, inverted (center tube is inverted and camera can be mounted on the underside of the tripod for unexpected new perspectives!). Further the height of this tripod is very customizable since there is an additional short center tube piece included, which can be added to the center piece to lengthen the tripod or be swapped completely to lower of the tripod. Even without the short center piece added, the fully extended tripod is way taller than me, so for taller users it will be perfect. The tripod head is interchangeable, but the original head is actually really nice. It is able to smoothly pan for panoramas with angle marks to keep track. It also has a leveling bubble to make sure your camera is straight. The only potential issue is the knobs, which can sometimes be confused when you’re not paying attention. However, the mounting plate has a catch so your camera won’t fall.Speaking of falling, this is probably one of the sturdiest tripods I’ve had: there are spikes in the feet to help with grip, but also the tripod material just feels sturdy. I stood and shook the tripod a bit just to see if it would lean or topple and it didn’t. The legs have a strong twist lock so even with some weight trying to push down on the tripod, it didn’t buckle.Overall this is a really great tripod—quality and versatility that should be able to suit all your photography needs.
