5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality supplement
This supplement meets all my criteria for quality. It's pure and free of additives and fillers, which actually seems to be the norm in the Omega 3 supplement world, so I'm glad this product doesn't stray from that standard. The recommended dose ranges from 1 to 3 capsules, but I find that 2 capsules provide the perfect dosage for me, consistent with similar products available. At this dosage, a single container would last me 45 days. Additionally, the company manufactures the product in the UK and promises that each batch is purified and tested for toxins, which adds further appeal. With a best-before date of March 2026, there's plenty of time to use the product. Overall, I'm satisfied with its quality and would recommend it.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good levels of EPA & DHA
I've taken various Omega-3 capsules over many years, most recently Krill Oil. I thought I'd give Purolabs Omega 3 Fish Oil a try because of their relatively high concentrations of EPA (330mg) and DHA (220mg) per capsule. One of the draws of this product for me was the fact that it is derived from anchovies fished in the South Pacific sea. Purity is very important, so it was important to me that the source was a less contaminated part of the globe, and the fact that each batch is tested by a third-party to confirm purity and concentration. The first thing I'd say is that there was a very slight fishy smell when I opened the container. Not too bad, but I'd rather no smell because it could be a sign that there has been a leakage or something has gone off. So I opened one of the capsules, and again there was a slight smell, but it did not smell rancid to me, which is very important (rancid oil is very bad for you). The capsule container is thin and easy to store / post through your letterbox. There is a freshness seal, which is good. Once opened, it doesn't need to be stored in a fridge. The capsules are on the larger side: roughly 25mm long and 9mm in diameter, so may not be easy for some people to swallow. I didn't notice any fishy aftertaste when taking them, and so far I have not had any bad reaction to any of them, which is another good sign for fish oil.
3.0 out of 5 stars This product doesn't convince me very much
This product doesn't convince me very much, for 3 reasons, the first of which is not clear which fish sources it comes from, for example cod liver? salmon? sardines etc. 2 because inside the pills there are other substances besides fish oil, 3 the pills are really huge, for now I've been taking them for a week and for such a short time I can't tell if they have an effect or not
5.0 out of 5 stars Great
This fish oil really works for me. There isn’t any fishy smell. Great value and would highly recommend.
2.0 out of 5 stars Do not waste your money on this
Pros:------- Compact container- Contains high-strength Omega-3 capsulesCons:-------- Much more overpriced, especially when compared to the best sellers on Bolo- Utilises cowhide for the capsule shell, which cannot be consumed by vegetarians and certain religious groups- Smell is pungent
5.0 out of 5 stars High-quality, no-fuss Omega 3
I've always struggled to remember to take supplements, but these softgels are small and easy to swallow. I appreciate that there's no fishy aftertaste – something I've experienced with other brands. I'm not sure if I can pinpoint specific effects, but I like the idea of proactively supporting my heart and eye health, especially as I get older.
4.0 out of 5 stars COntradicting description on the packaging
I recently tried out this fish oil supplement, and I'm pretty pleased with it overall. It's good quality and easy to use. The balance of EPA and DHA is just right for me, especially since I prefer more EPA.The packaging is well-designed and handy to carry around. It came sealed, and inside, there are 90 transparent capsules filled with oil.One thing that impressed me is that I didn't experience any burping after taking the capsules, which can be a concern with fish oil supplements. As for the taste there is none unless you open one of them which I did and , while the oil inside the capsules had a distinct fish flavour, it wasn't unpleasant or too strong, matching what I expected from the product. However, there's a slight discrepancy in the product description regarding the EPA and DHA content, which could be clearer and more consistent. 990mg and 660mg which is based on the amount of soft gels you take but still it should be clearer.Despite this, I find the supplement effective and reliable. It provides the essential omega-3s I need without any discomfort. Overall, it's a good product that delivers what it promises.
4.0 out of 5 stars Sourced from anchovies
ALA, EPA, and DHA are the three main types of omega 3. As a vegan my only source is APA and EPA which then needs to be converted in the body to DHA. This primarily comes from fish sources. I decided (although vegan) to try these as I am not sure if the conversion rate from flax seeds, chia seeds and walnuts etc is high enough. I wanted to be sure I got enough. It seems from reading the studies that Omega 3 DHA is vital for brain and heart health, so this is my insurance policy. They are quite high up the price scale but worth it if the source is reasonably pure and free of heavy metals as claimed. For now with no obvious taste and easy to take I will give it a 4 * rating as would prefer the price point to be a little lower at around £20 would be fair in my view.
