5.0 out of 5 stars Easy and fun!
So easy to use - just place your items on the paper and leave it in the sun. It's a great low-mess craft for kids over about 4 (it's not unsuitable for younger kids than that, but they don't really get the idea of making a design). You get a really decent amount of sheets in this pack, so you don't need to worry about messing any up!

This is a review for a Carreuty 32 piece Cyanotype paper kit. This is great fun! You take a sheet of paper from the UV resistant envelope, place an item/design on top of it, then cover this with the acrylic panel (attaching it with the supplied clips). You then leave the sheet in direct sunlight. The pack says just 10 - 15 minutes, but I haven't found this long enough in British wintertime! I'd suggest leaving it significantly longer and possibly even until the exposed paper turns blue (it starts out an olive green). You then remove the acrylic panel and design, rinse the sheet, and let it dry. You are left with the exposed paper a dramatic blue, and the covered portions, white. I'm not sure if you can get gradations in colour by having different lengths of exposures/translucency of design but it will be fun to experiment. So far, I've only played around with this by placing objects like flowers on top of the paper. However, I understand it can also be used to "print" photographs from negatives and I think that would be fun to play around with. All in all, this is an enjoyable kit. I think it would be a great way to introduce young children to the history/concepts of photography (though worth noting that this kind of paper doesn't seem compatible with pinhole photography from what I've read). And a fun way to produce quirky art pieces.I'm actually likely to buy a pack for my Mum, as I think she'd enjoy experimenting with different flowers/leaves/designs. The current price (£9.99) seems reasonable, so I'd probably spend money with this seller rather than look for an alternative. One thing worth noting is that I think the instructions in the listing are a bit clearer than the instructions that come with the pack itself.
