5.0 out of 5 stars Helped get mothers illness addressed quicker
I bought this test for my mother as she had a mystery illness that we were struggling to get diagnosed. She took the test and was able to present it as evidence of her problem. It meant that she was able to get treatment more quickly for her illness as it showed where her issue lay. She has asked me to buy 2 more kits just in case. Thank you Berkeley Health.
2.0 out of 5 stars No guide on what the results mean
The instructions explain which colours mean what, but there’s no explosion about how to interpret these results and whether an infection is present or not
5.0 out of 5 stars easy to use
Safe, reliable, easy to use, and well-priced are definitely great qualities to have.
4.0 out of 5 stars Handy test-kits to have in the cupboard
The Berkeley Health Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) Test Kit contains three individually wrapped tests. It is great that they are individually wrapped, because this substantially increases their shelf life compared to products that pack them together in one package. However, it should be said that three tests is not generous, compared to other sets on the market. You will go through three tests very quickly. UTI tests are the kind of thing you won't need for a year and then you need if you do get an infection you'll need a few in quick succession - to confirm the result, and then to use until the infection is clear.Now. These are handy to have in the cupboard and given the availability of health appointments in some locations it is important to take control ourselves where we are able to. However no test is 100% reliable and you should seek medical advice if you are unsure. In particular you should seek medical advice quickly, in the case of an elderly or immunocompromised person as UTIs can escalate quickly for some. However, many women especially have a history of recurrent UTIs and know their symptoms well. This is where these tests can be a useful indicator, at least. I would suggest doing a test when you feel well and symptom free so you have a record of what is a normal result for you. Then you have something for comparison when you go on to have symptoms too.Its worth also saying that the measurements taken - leukocytes, blood, protein and nitrites can be raised for reasons other than infection. The test will not give a reliable result during your monthly period. So there we have a lot of rather negative provisos. However, I have these in the cupboard, and do occasionally use them. They provide another tool to understand what's going on with your body and allow you to be proactive in your own health care.
