5.0 out of 5 stars Well made and thought out
These covers are good size for the size of pots we have. They will be used in an unheated greenhouse. They seem to be well made, and thought out. With the insulation, and the security of the drawstring, should retain some of the warmth absorbed during the day. The zipper makes it easy to put the covers on without causing damage tp the plants.I have high hopes for these covers, as we lost a few plants last winter, left unprotected.
5.0 out of 5 stars Winter is coming... but the plants will be ok
We have plants outside that need to be protected from the frosts. These bags are brilliant at that.Unzip them, put over the plant and close them up. They protect the plants from the frosts...You can eight put the plant in the bag and zip it upOrPut the bag over the plant and zip it down.We use them over and down...Some of the plants are too tall for going into a bag so it has to be that way round but both methods work.
4.0 out of 5 stars Thinner than I expected
These GIONAR 2PCS Plant Winter Protection Bags are definitely easy to use. Just unzip them place the pot inside, zip them up and pull the drawstring around the base of the plant. I have used it around an azalea and lavender. They are good quality I just wonder how effective they will be as they are not that thick, thinner than I expected. I think these will be great for short periods of cold but not for many consecutive freezing days. They aren’t that thick, essentially a foil layer and a fleece layer. They come in different sizes so make sure you order correct ones. They look great but at the current price of £26 for small ones I think you could essentially make your own with similar insulation at a cheaper price.
5.0 out of 5 stars A cuddle for your smaller plant pots
The size I ordered are fine for my smaller plant pots, the covers have a side zip, a foil lining and a tie top. You need to lift the pot into the cover and it fully enclosed the roots. Watering need is reduced by enclosing and reduced evaporation. It depends a lot on the plant/tree involved, many are dormant in the winter and this protects the pot, reducing risk of freezing and cracking of the pot.
5.0 out of 5 stars Winter protection for plant pot
You get a pack of two grey zipped bags 40 cm x 35 cm made of soft reasonably substantial fabric which has a silver insulated lining (like a freezer bag) providing good protection for all except truly vicious weather. You sit your pot inside the bag, zip it up and there is also a pull up drawstring so that you can draw it in around the stem of your plant. Much easier than trying to fiddle about with fleece and far better protection. Definitely designed for plant pots rather than plants in the ground but I suppose if you used it upside down you might be able to wrap something in the ground fairly satisfactorily.
3.0 out of 5 stars Is it a pot or a plant protector?
First of all I would like to point out that the size shown on one of the product photos is not correct. It showing the width of the pot as 45cm when in fact this is the width of the bag when FLAT (actually 50cm wide). The max size DIAMETER pot is closer to 33cm with no space to spare. The name of the product says Flower Pot Protection Bag and all the product photos show it being used protecting pots rather than plants. However, I haven't been able to lift any of my pots, of this sort of size, which are currently very heavy and saturated with rain.To place a pot inside the bag, even with the sides rolled down, is difficult especially as the bag is so light, the slightest breeze blows the bag out of position or even right across the garden.I think you would need 2 people.Other reviewers have used the bag to protect plants which would be much easier as long as the plant isn't too wide. The top rim has a drawstring with both ends joined together rather than left loose. The bag has a circumference of 100cm and the string is only about 16cmm longer which works out approx. 38-39cm diameter for the max width of your plants to fit through before zipping up but remember the diameter of the bag is only approx 33cm so anything wider would have to be forced upwards to squeeze branches in.To make it easier, you could undo the knot to make 2 loose ends so you would have an easier opening. If the winter gets properly cold, (I live on the south coast) I may use it as a fleece for plant protection and tie around it to hold it in position if the zip doesn't reach, or just use garden fleece.
4.0 out of 5 stars Winter Readiness
So it’s that time of year when the cold nights are coming and frosts are approaching, which means wrapping up my favourite plants. I have two young hydrangeas that I wanted to protect. These covers have a side zip closure and pull fasten at the bottom. They weren’t quite as big as I had expected so I actually opened up the pull fastener which enabled me to make them wider. The material seems good, I haven’t had plant covers before so can’t make comparison and not sure how they will withstand heavy rain. The tie at the bottom helps secure the cover to the plant which helps prevent wind catching them. As per pictures there is a thermal section inside the cover.Overall good value, hopefully my baby plants now survive the winter!
4.0 out of 5 stars Winter fleece
These winter fleece covers fit directly over your pots. There good quality and stop the roots from freezing in bad weather aswell as providing rain protection for more tender plants. Perfect.
