5.0 out of 5 stars The material is specific and to the point.
I read this book out of curiosity and I wasn't disappointed. The material is specific and to the point. It provides a historical background of the recorder, which was very useful. I learned that recorders can be made of various materials, including bamboo and bones, which I found a bit strange. In addition, during the Renaissance period, the recorder contributed significantly to polyphonic music, creating clear and true sounds. Moreover, the book emphasizes that to become a master of the recorder, several skills are required. These include proper breathing techniques when blowing, correct finger placement, mastering music notation, creating warm and round sounds, learning how to play minor and major scales, and articulation strategies such as legato and staccato. There is so much to learn from this book that I cannot begin to name them all. If you are a novice like me, I highly recommend this guide.
Description - not practice s
Great description of recorder instruments and techniques. Good overview of music notation and types of music. But no actual sheet music or instruction on how to actually play sings. I would recommend for information provided but you will need an instructional book to learn to play the recorder
