5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent budget soundbar
I wasn't expecting much from this soundbar, but was looking for an inexpensive option to improve the sound quality for my bedroom TV. I got it on offer, so it was basically £60 and it is worth every penny. It does exactly what I wanted and it performs extremely well for a budget soundbar - sound is clear and the bass gives it a good rounded overall sound. By no means is the sound amazing (this isn't Dolby surround or anything near), but for the price, it's absolutely fantastic. What makes it an absolute bargain and really worth the purchase is the versatility of the product and the ease of setup. They provide you with everything you need to connect to your TV (or whatever) - I've gone with the optical cable, but they also provide other options such as the HDMI cable. The real winning feature is that it can be split in to two halves and placed as two speakers (in the stands provided) either side of the TV, or it can be fitted together to form a traditional soundbar that can be placed on a surface beneath your TV, OR they provide you with the necessary brackets to position the soundbar on the wall beneath the TV, OR you have the option of using the provided brackets to connect the two halves of the soundbar to the wall on either side of your TV. It's this versatility that really sets it above other budget soundbars and the fact that they provide you with every lead and brackets you could possibly need to set the soundbar up in whichever orientation and whichever connection you need for your setup. There is even the ability to connect a subwoofer (not supplied, but in other slightly more expensive versions you can get one) of your choice to the soundbar.I really can't find fault with this soundbar - yes there are better sounding ones out there, but not at such an affordable budget price as this one and often not with any of the provided leads and brackets included with this one.For my bedroom setup it's absolutely perfect and, whilst it has 32 volume levels, I've found that level 10 fills my bedroom with more than enough sound and going higher blows me away, without getting too tinny and still remaining remarkably clear.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic quality and easy-ish to install
Bought this as a present to myself after a rubbish week at work and well worth the money. The box looks like the item is premium and the build quality certainly doesn't disappoint. The voulme and bass is great and does exactly what I need it to do, just in time for the England game tomorrow! All the cables come in the box which is a brilliant idea and one which sets this company apart. I love the two speaker option and they now sit proudly either side of the TV, it really gives a cinema feel! The bases are included which again shows a degree of thought missing from other companies who would normally charge for the priviledge of a base or even the right cables. The only slight criticism is that I couldn't get the ARC setup to work and following the instructions of going to PCM on the TV didn't work. However, this was only a minor inconvenience as switched to optic (using the packaged cable), muted the TV speakers and it works perfectly with no audio delay. An absolutely great product and one which is a must if you want more powerful speakers on a budget.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good sound. Wrong instructions
Got off to a bad start after the delivery was dropped over the fence even though we were home. Not good with electronics. Easy to set up which is good because the instructions were for a completely different model. Sounds good and for the price it's good value.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent soundbar. Brilliant customer service.
**UPDATE **The customer care team at ULTIMEA is one of the best I have ever interacted with, and they should be commended for a top class customer service. The company reached out to me following my review and offered me an improved version of the product. Not only did they listen to feedback, but they communicated and fixed the issues.I have since received the updated version of the soundbar and I am absolutely blown away by the difference in the sound quality! The sound stage is more balanced and the bass, while it won't rattle your windows or move the furniture, is definitely more present. The soundbar now produces a fuller, more pleasant sound. It does not distort at high volume and I can now hear a distinct difference between each of the pre-set equaliser modes. Although they included the wrong power adapter in the box, I used the original one and that worked fine. All the other positives mentioned in my original review still stands.I am truly blown away by the professionalism of this company and the fact that they included a HAND WRITTEN note in the package was very impressive!I am very pleased with the new soundbar and it looks fantastic as a two tower setup, which is great if you have limited space, or if your TV stand doesn't allow you to sit the soundbar underneath it.Thank you ULTIMEA and Cathy for your excellent customer service. You have gained another customer and I will definitely be recommending this soundbar and company to friends and family. I have updated my rating to five stars!**Original review**First the positives:1. Excellent packaging with all cables included. Something that more sellers should include with their soundbars.2. Very clear and easy to follow instructions with setup guides for different TV models3. Versatility - can be used as one sound bar or two towers. I have the two tower setup which looks very smart on either side of our 32" bedroom TV.4. Good build quality.5. Hdmi Arc function that allows you to use the TV remote to control the volume. The not so positives:1. Price - too expensive. Great that it can be used in two different ways but not worth that price tag. For another 20 or so pounds more I could've got a more powerful soundbar with subwoofer, or a logik soundbar that we currently have connected to the main TV that costs less and is very powerful.2. Sound quality. Not good. I know the tweeters are only 2 1/2 inches but the way they were hyping up the subwoofers and the technology used the make the sound fuller, I was left disappointed with the sound quality. In fact, I'm not sure it sounds any better than the built in TV speakers. The only benefit is that the setup allows the sound be projected forward into the room instead of downward.3. Lack of codec support. The soundbar cannot play dolby or high definition sound and so you are stuck with stereo. The dynamic option is not bad for what it is, a kind of 3D simulation, but there is a sacrifice in depth of sound. Bass is almost non-existent, even when at maximum level. I have found the best combination is to use maximum bass with hi-fi sound. Conclusion:Very average soundbar in terms of sound quality. It has good build quality and its ability to be used as two towers as well as a bar gives it good versatility and provides additional options when space is limited.I think it is overpriced for what you get but it's my fault for expecting more from 2 inch speakers. I won't return it because one, I can't be bothered and two, it projects the sound forward and looks good next to the TV. Maybe I'm just too picky.
5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant soundbar
very impressed very quickly delivered well packed and item is superb very clear instructions and at a great price highly recommended
3.0 out of 5 stars Sound not good at high level
The sound gets distorted and not good at a higher levels. My 65" TV has better sound at the same level. Sound is clear at lower levels and it's easy to setup and comes with all cables.
5.0 out of 5 stars Sound bar
Brilliant easy to set up i did via blutooth took 5 mins sound is amazing especially for hard of hearing i dont need volune to high its well worth the money highly recommended
Esteticamente molto belle
Luv'd it
Okay, i was thinking it would be hard to hook up, nope! i did it less than 10 minutes. It is perfect for my small living room. It has great speakers. I am impressed n i luv my new speakers.
Très bon rapport qualité-prix
Rapport qualité prix EXCELLENT !
Sounds good for its price, interesting form factor, and no, it's not "2.2" channels
Reasons To Buy+ Sounds noticeably better/louder than the built-in audio of most TVs+ Also good as computer speakers or any other use case where powered speakers are needed+ Splitting the speakers into two gives you better stereo separation than the soundbar configuration+ Includes cables for both orientations. The plug ends are keyed so they go in only one way, so you won't get the speaker polarities reversed.+ Includes the various cables required for the inputs+ The bass, while not boomy, does have some presence (inferior to a subwoofer, but way better than most built-in TV speakers). If it's not enough, you can connect to a powered subwoofer via a mono RCA sub output.+ The quick start sheet is very well done, especially considering that it's a no-name brand.+ Includes a remote (batteries not included)+ Includes stand bases and wall mounts for the speakersNitpicks / Hit or Miss* While not ugly, the speakers look better as a soundbar than a separate speakers* Hard to twist apart the connected speakers when configured as a soundbar* Limited to the EQ modes that are selectable from the included remote* I had trouble getting ARC to work with my TVs (Sony) - to be fair, I have had trouble getting Sony TVs in general to play nice with ARC with other devices, including name brand soundbars. While I could control this soundbar's volume with the TV, no audio would come out, even with the soundbar's recommended settings for Sony TVs. Your mileage will definitely vary.* If ARC doesn't work with your TV, you may need to use the AUX or Optical output instead. AUX (sometimes via the TV's headphone jack) is easier, since your TV volume will control the level to the sound bar (which you would set to some fixed volume) whereas Optical can't use the TV's volume control and will require you to use the volume control on the included remote, or require you to program a learning remote for its volume control codes.* The misleading "2.2" designation for the soundbar is definitely a "miss" for me. The number after the decimal generally refers to the number of subwoofers included in a multi-speaker setup. I don't think anyone would consider the two 2.25" woofer drivers to be subwoofers. So since this soundbar does not have any subwoofers included, so it should be marked 2.0, not 2.2.Reasons Not To Buy- While it's perfectly fine for most people, it's obviously not an audiophile grade piece of gear, so if you've somehow deluded yourself into thinking you can get a brand new **audiophile** class soundbar for $100, maybe you should pass on this one.Good Value? The one thing you have to keep reminding yourself is that it's a $100 soundbar. It's got small 2.25" drivers, and it's powered with a tiny wall wart, so there's only so much performance that you can squeeze out of it. It sounds good for its price, but it's not going to punch very far above its weight class. Pairing the soundbar with a powered sub will definitely improve the overall experience, but it's also going to increase the overall cost significantly - which few people spending $100 on a sound bar will likely do.
Improved sound quality and loudness compared to TV speakers, lacks bass
The Ultimea Apollo S40 2.0CH Soundbar is a compact soundbar with good sound quality. Ultimea touts this as a 2.2 channel soundbar, but it really is not because it doesn't have a true subwoofer. The soundbar has 2 tweeters and 2 woofers, but a 2.25" woofer is far from being a dedicated subwoofer. The Ultimea has a compact footprint and is intended to be a soundbar for your TV. However, the S40 does have a subwoofer out meaning you can connect a powered subwoofer to make this a true 2.1CH soundbar. Having the ability to connect a subwoofer makes the S40 a better value than most entry-level 2.0CH soundbars because those have no option to connect subwoofer. The build quality is a plastic construction and versatile as the soundbar can be setup as traditional soundbar or setup as left and right mini tower speakers. On the rear, there are inputs for HDMI (ARC), Optical and AUX and the power input. Of course, there is the subwoofer out as well. The soundbar also supports Bluetooth 5.0 and inputs can be switched using remote control.Setup is simple, just connect HDMI cable or optical cable from your TV to the soundbar. While the soundbar can get decently loud, it's not going to fill larger rooms. In terms of sound quality, the S40 is a significant improvement over any TV's built-in speakers. The mids are forward and detailed, with speech sounding clear and natural. The highs are present but not bright but the bass is pretty much non-existent, unless you connect a powered subwoofer. I did find that selecting the Movie EQ improved the sound quality and the sound was fuller with more low end presence. Playing music on the soundbar over Bluetooth also sounds great with clean and crisp mids and decent highs. But again, the low end is the weak point with the absence of a subwoofer. Stereo separation is not great in soundbar mode, but significantly improves when using it separate left and right speakers. The volume when using via Bluetooth is average but at least it doesn't distort too much at higher volumes. Overall, if you looking for an affordable and compact soundbar for your computer or small TV, this Ultimea Apollo S40 Soundbar is a solid option. The sound quality is far better compared the built-in speakers in your TV or monitor.
