5.0 out of 5 stars Very pleased
My desktop is 10 years old and going really slow so I wanted to buy a new computer. However, my daughters are now of an age where they are needing a computer for schoolwork and competing to use it. I therefore felt a laptop was more useful so that they could take the computer to their room. I bought this Lenovo as it was such a good deal at the time, down to £500, and had the spec I wanted. The bonus was that it flipped into a tablet AND came with a stylus. We were so impressed with it (ease of setup, speed of processing, great screen size, touchscreen, stylus, tablet conversion, etc, etc) that I bought a 2nd one for the house to save arguments and allow my daughters to get work done (one doing GCSEs and one doing A-levels). The even better news is that when I went to buy the 2nd one it was reduced further, to £459. What a machine, especially for that price.
4.0 out of 5 stars OK for a mid-priced machine, acceptable but with some flaws.
I bought one with a Ryzen/Radeon chipset about a year ago, and it's been my travel/settee computer ever since, replacing a Dell XPS 15.The good:Battery life after a year is still 5-6 hours, and general performance quite acceptable. Screen is bright enough and calibrated OK for photo work. Touch screen works fine and it's nice to open it right out into tablet mode, plus the bezels are very narrow giving a compact size for a 16" laptop and it's nice to have the 1600:1200 resolution for reading documents etc. Screen hinges have remained tight and still work well. I immediately replaced the 256GB SSD with a 2TB Western Digital unit, which was very easy thanks to good internal design. Plenty of ports, the SD card reader is fast and bluetooth or plugged-in headphones work well. The OK:The machine is unrefined and after 9 years with a Dell XPS15, it's not a pleasing computer to use, though this is acceptable at the price. The screen is not espcially crisp and it really shows when used at the same time as my XPS, keyboard and trackpad have become a little rattly and key presses don't feel especially positive. The keyboard is rather cramped with a number pad on the RHS causing both the main keyboard and trackpad to be offset. The touch screen works OK, but doesn't seem especially precise. It can be awkward to pick up because the metal cased section with the screen is much heavier than the plastic cased section with the keyboard etc, and this can make it a little unbalanced. Can be quite slow connecting to WiFi, sometimes taking a couple of minutes. The bad:Sometimes the right hand side of the trackpad seems un-responsive, and it's not a particularly accurate and sensitive device anyway. If a key is pressed before booting then the display shows battery charge level, however when started afterwards the machine will then not boot, and enters repair mode instead, requiring a reboot to start properly. The device itself feels fairly heavy and can be quite slippery, making it difficult to draw from a bag at times. Lenovo include a LOT of cruft as standard in Windows, and reinstalling windows from scratch gave me a good chance to get rid of much of it.ConclusionIt's not bad *for the price* especially on a deal, and it's a bit better than current Dell Latitudes that I use for business with the exception of the keyboard & trackpad. But it IS built down to a price, and the offset keyboard and trackpad can be quite annoying at times. Recommended if this is what you can afford, but a carefully selected higher quality laptop could be MUCH nicer too use.
5.0 out of 5 stars I like the laptop but it came dirty
The laptop has more advantages than disadvantages. I already used it 1.5 months.-The product came dirty. It had visible signals of use. However I did not return it since generally speaking the laptop was new and all good. The only thing I dont like to much is a small noise when you use the touch pad seat on a coach for instance. And you can feel a small clap in the border of the laptop, similar to my old lenovo that I payed 200 usd. The rest of the functionalities are very good. I love to use the laptop as a tablet sometimes.
