5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic TV!
Our last TV was an Aldi Bauhn TV, not a smart one, about 12 years old. The TV was rubbish, sound was awful, I could not understand people speaking on TV so we needed a soundbar. But the picture was also awful and TV programmes looked like the filming was done by 5 year olds, looking really poor and fake, hard to describe. So we were desperate for a new TV but at the same time I was so worried we'd spend money and end up with a similar pile of garbage.Husband watches a lot of electronics videos on YouTube so said LG was one of the best brands so we looked at LG TVs in a shop and researched which LG TV to get and the NanoCell or QNED seemed best. Then this TV came up on Prime Day and was reduced a lot so I bought it.It is so good! I'm not somebody who is an expert on sound and image quality but for me both are excellent! The sound is clear, I can understand the talking on TV and the video quality is great. No need for a soundbar and so good to have a smart TV that doesn't require Roku. The TV also wakes up very quickly when turned on. Only the first time did it take a while. The remote is also something else. :) Takes a while to get used to, especially when you have a tremor, but really neat when you do.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price
Rare we get a new tv so found setting up a little time consuming but I’m sure that is the operator not the tv. Everything else very pleased with. We are not using the Smart elements as yet as we have Sky but everything we want is good quality, remote is taking a little getting use to as it has a wheel and point at the tv mode. In general, very good for the price.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value for money
We bought this to replace a smaller Samsung 4k smart tv which had given good service. At £379 for a 55” tv the LG seemed like a bargain. The sound and picture quality is good. Didn’t need to wall mount it so set up was fairly straightforward as we plugged in an xisting figure box and recieve channels via HDMI connection. (3 available)
4.0 out of 5 stars Good product but enormouosly fiddly and slow to configure
This TV was replacing a 12 year old 32" 1080p Panasonic. It's a very good TV [though we would have prefered to buy a 4K unit at a smaller size] but the WebOS is slow and therefore feels unresponsive whilst the number of options and details are so great - and so poorly organised - that it can take ages to end up with a configuration that suits one's own preferences and needs: after 4 days of almost continuous fiddling we're almost there, but not yet sure. There's no printed manual included in the packaging and no instructions on where to find online help or user manuals etc so the only way to find out how to do things is to go online and search via Google/Bing etc. Both the web and PDF versions of help/manual are badly linked [no internal hyperlinked URLs in their texts] and with no attempt at task-orientation; instead we get a list of the menu entries and what they and their sub-menus say. A listing that is inaccurate for this particular model. No indication anywhere of which menu item to use for any given task. Thus, for this model, we are told that we can configure for multiple remote controls and that there's a setting to permit this, but that setting is actively missing from the menus: but the system actively recognises a second RC but says it won't use the "magic" functions of the second handheld RC. Similarly, the TV comes preconfigured to turn itself off after 4 hours of "inactivity" - i.e no change of channel or change of inputs etc; but there's we are not told this at any point when we firtst switch on, or at any point thereafter. If you are out of the room when the warning flashes up then you'll return to a TV that has switched itself off, with no indication of why that's the case. There's no instructions in the online documents or in the menus about how to disable all of the different options which do actually switch the TV off on a schedule. And yes there *are* several different options which impact when or if the TV will or will not switch itself on or off: amongst them are the parental controls, but also the power/energy-saving controls - and others. We are also told that there's an app we can use on Apple and Android phones/tablets to remote control the TV, but nowhere are we told an accurate name of that app or given a URL for download; on Android Play store there's no apps published by LG. Lots of third-party remote control apps with varying degrees of competence, all of them riddled with adverts unless one pays. I tested several of these and couldn't find a single one that actually worked reliably and consistently on my Android 13 phone.Apps and third party services such as Netflix, Youtube, iPlayer ITVX etc are good _provided_ that one has a low latency high-speed internet connection. The WebOS and app functions which handle third-party streaming do not respond well to slow internet connections - anything much below 80-100 MBps is quite likely to give you a spinning eggtimer/wheel effect at various points as the system buffers your video stream. This may or may not be important to you. Finally, colour balance and colour rendition [chroma/gamma etc]: the Asian market has singularly different colour preferences to those most commonly found in Europe, and these are in turn very different to those of the USA. The default colour rendition of this model is overly dark and saturated and heavily 'blue' with weak and shallow [washed-out] reds and greens. This *can* all be corrected, but it's a painful stepwise process that takes a lot of patience with zero guidance from the help docs or manuals etc and no "this is what this control will do when you change it". Be persistent, it will eventually give you a good rendition with accurate colours and densities.Basically knowledge transfer is non-existent. LG's help is useless. If you have the patience to wade through all of this and correct the default settings and learn your way around the menus then you will be very happy. If you don't then you will probably find this TV isn't for you.Hope this helps.
1.0 out of 5 stars Would not recommend
Arrived, set up relatively easy. I would say though that it is very slow, I was replacing my 8-year-old Smart LG TV, because I thought a new one would be quicker, it was not it was even slower! After just a few hours watching and using the streaming apps, the whole system stopped working with a repeating message saying the app was closing to make more memory space. This just would not go away; you could not use any app as nothing worked other than any streaming service you had on the remote. In my case limited to Prime. I did all the usual, then decided to just leave the TV off and read, after being off overnight, and for another 15 hours, it still was exactly the same. LG electronics were no help at all, they said there was a problem they were aware of, and they would get back to me, which they did two and half days later! by which time I had been in touch with Bolo since the TV was not fit for purpose. LG then sent a text, just telling me to do all of the things I had already done, really!! what a waste of time they were, they could not even be bothered to call. In the meantime, Bolo had picked up the faulty TV for refund or replacement. Thank you, Bolo for your brilliant service and for keeping my stress levels down. I was not impressed having paid for a TV that would not work and is clearly faulty, Bolo just made it all go away.
5.0 out of 5 stars LG never disappoints
The media could not be loaded. Treated myself to a new TV, an extra 5" from my old LG TV. Nice quality picture with nice personal settings for picture and audio. I'm a gamer too and use this TV with my PS5 and the picture is fantastic, the TV also has gaming specific settings which is another reason I chose it.Looks great mounted on my wall.I'm very happy with it
5.0 out of 5 stars Value, great magic wand remote, but cookies slow it down over time
One big tip with this TV: go into the in-built browser and clear cache and cookies. Also turn off ads and recommendations on the homescreen. After 12 months the TV had slowed down painfully - I was relieved to find clearing cookies in the browser fixed it (it might be best to avoid using the browser entitely)
