About this item:
STILL WAKES THE DEEP is a return to the first-person narrative horror genre for The Chinese Room, creator of critically acclaimed games such as Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, and Dear Esther.
You are an offshore oil rig worker, fighting for your life through a vicious storm, perilous surroundings, and the dark, freezing North Sea waters. All lines of communication have been severed. All exits are gone. All that remains is to face the unknowable horror that’s come aboard. Search for your crew and help them survive if you can. Run, climb, and swim through the flooding corridors and storm-lashed outer decks. Face a terrifying, unrelenting foe. And pray that, one day, you get to see your family again. The Chinese Room – with its reputation for world-class world-building, audio, writing, and acting – delivers a symphony of action, trepidation, tender emotions, and awe. Game Features: · LIVE THE HORROR: An immersive disaster story aboard a stunningly realised North Sea oil rig, starring an authentic cast of Scottish actors. Experience the beauty and ferocity of the sea as it rips apart one of humanity’s strongest structures and its steadfast crew. · ESCAPE THE RIG: No weapons. No powers. Just your wits and determination. Struggle for survival on an unstable oil rig, where one wrong step could be your last. · FACE YOUR FEARS: Something has turned your home into a nightmare, where the familiar becomes threatening, and where a noise in the dark fills you with dread. Resist the urge to turn back. Confront the unknown. 5.0 out of 5 stars Cracking game.. amazing value for money
The first thing you notice is the rich and detailed environment. Then people start talking and the story is great and the voice acting is on point. Then the sci Fi horror creeps in and it explodes to life with this Alan Wake / Control feel which I loved. I like the way there are no weapons, it’s just a survival game against the odds and it’s just fun to play. Only small gripe is the random objects on the floor which you can pick up.. there is always more even if you turn around and go back the way you came, they have magically appeared. lol but it’s a small detail and doesn’t take away from the game.
5.0 out of 5 stars This game is one of the greatest horror games I’ve ever played
Would highly recommend this game to others, it’s one hell of a thrilling journey and every detail is crafted to perfection in my opinion 10/10 from me
4.0 out of 5 stars Superb voice acting, good story. Great atmosphere
Highly recommended. Some of the best voice acting in any medium let alone games. It's not the longest game in the world but it's a got an engaging story that kept me interested from start to finish
5.0 out of 5 stars Great story driven experience which does have to rely on some gaming tropes to work
I thoroughly enjoyed this, it's a genuine attempt to try something new. The concept, story and writing is great and the oil rig feels like a real place. It's an excellent looking next-gen only game and wouldn't have been possible to this quality on previous generations. Nothing like this existed in the more retro past (especially with all the Scottish accents!).You need to accept that it's only 5ish hours long and that some gaming tropes are necessary (e.g. yellow paint to tell you where to go) as you'd otherwise just get frustratingly lost.
5.0 out of 5 stars Quick and Interesting game.
Easy to run through but not boring. Decent Story. It is a horror game but nit too gory or scary.
3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad
Tried this game but not my sort of game. Has its jump scares easy to play.good voice acting
5.0 out of 5 stars A rare horror game we need more off.
Horror developers need to take note here, it's not jump scares or action that makes a great horror game. It's atmosphere, sense of unease, great soundtrack and sound design. The feeling of isolation and complete hopelessness is what it needs. This game has all of it and more. I was totally gripped from start to finish. Great design and story. Voice acting is the best I've heard in a long time. Well done and hope we get more, your on the right track. 10/10
5.0 out of 5 stars Tense, nail-biting, visceral horror
Love this game, and as other reviewers have pointed out, it feels so realistic and believable. The environment's are gorgeous with typical clutter and everyday paraphenalia. The setting off the cost of Scotland and thick Scottish accents, ands to the palpable atmosphere. Its so claustrophobic, and it isn't always obvious as to which way you need to go. I died several times whilst being chased by some monstrous creature. Its an utterly absorbing life and death drama and worth every penny,
Génial
