5.0 out of 5 stars Semveta blueberry powder
I am just writing to say that I have just received Semveta Blueberry Powder and have thoroughly enjoyed mixing it with Greek yoghurt, oats and honey for my breakfast. Now I have this powder I no longer have to worry about fresh blueberries going off in the fridge. I am looking forward to mixing it with pancake batter turning it a colourful dark purple colour.
4.0 out of 5 stars The flavour just pops on your tastebuds
Blueberry powder 4 starsWhat's in the box?250g freeze-dried natural blueberry powderI was curious to try this as I've been on a health kick for the past year and incorporated a lot of new things into my diet. For 250g of product, it is pricey, and that would be my main bone of contention. As opposed to that, if you class a 2.5g teaspoon as 1 serving, then there are 100 servings in the bag. It's a simple and versatile way of including blueberries in your diet without buying them fresh, and potentially wasting some. Plus when I buy fresh blueberries, the taste varies so much, sometimes they're lovely, sometimes there's barely any taste...at least with using this powder there's consistency. The health benefits of blueberries are well known. Vitamins and nutrients are packed into the berries, and a supplement like this is a great way to add them to your daily routine. It comes in a resealable bag, although it did kind of fly up at me when I undid the packet for the first time! It's a deep purple powder, and the manufacturer claims one tablespoon is the equivalent of a handful of fresh blueberries. I can well believe it, as the taste is very rich and seems to ooze with health benefits!I mixed a teaspoon with natural yoghurt, it was very tasty, with a nice rich fruitiness. And tonight I added half a teaspoon to some creme fraiche to have with a banana, delicious! It mixes easily, turns a beautiful purple colour, and is lovely tasting. It's reassuring to know that blueberries are grown and frozen naturally without additives or pesticides, although I don't fully understand why they're grown in China and just brought over here to be packed.I rarely drink smoothies, but will definitely add to my yoghurts etc. I was interested to see what else the powder could be used for, so had a Google, it suggested pancakes, blueberry muffins, pastries, cheesecake, and best of all, homemade dog treats. I often make my dogs healthy biscuits, so this would be a great way of packing in some extra goodness for them!So yes, I definitely like this product and will use it, and recommend it, but with the price tag it currently has I don't imagine I will be buying it again sadly, so I've had to knock a star off. I just cannot justify spending that much on just 250g of product, however nice it is.
5.0 out of 5 stars Love this.
I'm hooked on this now. I mix it with yogurt drinks to pour on muslie - delicious.
3.0 out of 5 stars Mixes well with yoghurt but flavour not that strong; not as good as the fresh fruit
I tried this mixed into plain Greek yoghurt - it coloured it well but to be honest if I had been blindfolded I am not sure I could make out a strong blueberry taste or flavour. The instructions state using 1-2 teaspoons with yoghurt or smoothie. You will get through this fairly quickly at this rate.I am not sure I see any real advantage in buying this product over actual fresh blueberries. Certainly not on price at almost £23.Difficult to recommend.
5.0 out of 5 stars Packed full of nutrition - great for blending
I add a teaspoon or two into my smoothies to give them extra nutrition, and blueberries are full of nutrition, so they work great for this. It's so much easier to use powdered blueberry rather than blend raw blueberries, since the skin doesn't blend well. The taste is just like blueberry, just slightly duller, and it has a heavy grainy texture, which does fall to the bottom of the bottle in lighter fluids, but stays mxied in heavier thicker smoothies. The pouch keeps it fresh and is sealable.
4.0 out of 5 stars nice taste, mixes well with milk & yoghurt (esp warm), good for smoothies & pancakes. A bit pricey
PROS-nice taste-mixes well with yoghurt and milk-I’m using it to make blueberry pancakes (a favourite of mine). Purple-ish pancakes, and, if I use enough, there is a definite blueberry flavour-convenient to have in the cupboard-freeze-drying should have preserved more of the more delicate molecules (vs. drying in e.g. a dehydrator)CONS-I have to double the amount recommended to get a good level of flavour-it’s a bit expensive, given that I’m using almost double the recommended amount each timeNOTES-better mixed with warm milk than cold, so I warm a little bit of milk in the microwave, mix in two spoonfuls of powder, and then mix that into my cold smoothie or pancake ingredients.-sure, real blueberries are going to taste nicer (as long as they are not sour), but this is a convenient source of all that blueberry goodness, without having to find actual blueberries (which can fluctuate wildly in their price)MY STAR RATINGS:1* substandard, mostly cons2** barely acceptable, cons outweigh the pros3*** meets the basic requirements, cons balance the pros4**** good product, pros outweigh the cons5***** exceptional, all (or almost all) pros
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for my yogurts
The media could not be loaded. This is great! Literally go buy any plain yogurt instead of the flavoured ones and use this powder, BOOM, now you got blueberry flavoured yogurt. I used only one spoon and it was enough, it really tastes nice alone and with it mixed in the yogurt. I wish it cost less because I feel like this was too high but in terms of the actual product it's genuinely really good and I can't wait to see the positives from eating it daily.
