5.0 out of 5 stars Performance
It’s really good, I’ve used it for my college projects and so far had no problems with it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful but can be noisy!
I picked this up as it was on Bolo Warehouse Like New for a good chunk of change off. It's light, feels & looks premium BUT it can be noisy. This is easily rectified though by removing certain bloatware off the laptop or disabling it at start-up.
3.0 out of 5 stars Not for CAD
It’s a great laptop! Don’t get me wrong it’s really good but for my needs of a good graphics card to do heavy rendering on CAD I wouldn’t recommend. I tried doing tenders but would crash or take a very long time up to 2 days to render. This is more for office base workers or daily use laptops. Hence why I am on the process of returning this.
2.0 out of 5 stars Why no USB ?
It is slim compact but no usb which is why I returned it
1.0 out of 5 stars I really wanted to like this laptop....
As I said, I really wanted to. It's beautifully designed and every aspect of the build speaks of quality. Unfortunately, the performance speaks of circa 2012. My 2017 XPS 15 currently benchmarks at 43%. This benchmarked at 28% out of the box. When the fan's not on (unsurprisingly) it's silent. When the fan's on, however (which it almost always seems to be) turn the tunes up to 11. Booting up seems to be sufficient to cause subsequent CPU throttling. Nothing wrong with this individual machine, just unbelievably underpowered, even for light use. Sadly returning what I hoped would be my laptop for years to come.
5.0 out of 5 stars Well built, fast slim and easily transportable.
Another excellent product from Dell.
3.0 out of 5 stars Sleek, light and trouble.
Undeniably nice on the surface, but ask yourself if you really need the tablet form. I have only found use for the normal laptop form (which I use with my preferred keyboard separates, so it still makes sense for me).Beyond that, I've generally found it to be a frustrating ownership experience.Constantly heating to worrying levels (remember it has no fan), and the bluetooth headphone connections give endless problems. I have to shut it down multiple times a day for both reasons, and the latest episode has triggered this review. Its not necessarily that mine is faulty (though I will likely be sending it back if it persists) - google the model and you will see these appear to be unresolved design faults.Anyway, nice bit of kit if you are lucky enough not to have the constant niggles that I and others have.
1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money.
I have made the mistake of buying a Dell xps laptop twice. In both cases it was an utter let down. The worst of its shortcomings is the truly awful track pad. In comparison to Apples track pads which are the defacto 'best in the world' Dell track pads are so bad that I find them literally unusable. I can't bare to fight with it to get it to do what I want so I permanently use a wireless mouse instead. Imagine buying a high end sports car where the steering doesn't work very well. It's like that. The build quality is ok but not what you might expect for the price. Having used it for some pretty resource heavy tasks I can also say that the performance is nothing to shout about.I don't want to buy Apple products but the Dell XPS is a great explanation of why you might want to.
