4.0 out of 5 stars I needed to add washers
Good product, great idea however I did need to add a washer enable it to fix properly
5.0 out of 5 stars I know exactly where I'll be sticking these
These are a great idea and will enable me to get rid of a bit of a messy looking set-up, with bits of wire stretched out in my greenhouse to trail tomato supporting threads up to.So, instead of having a fixed height support across the sides of the greenhouse (which then get in the way once the plants are gone), I can put these on the struts wherever I want them and at whatever height works best.I've not put many up yet, but will sort them all out properly in the Spring, but I've found them easy to put together (they come as separate bolts, nuts and rings, so need assembling) and attach to the greenhouse struts. Finger tight doesn't work, so you'll need to use the spanner to make sure they don't move or drop off.I have to say that I didn't pay for this product, but at the advertised price I think that they represent good value and seem well made and so will last.
5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Genius, Ideal For Supporting Tomato Vines
I wish I'd found these greenhouse rings years ago, because they're exactly what I needed to support my tomato plants. You can see from my photo how I've had to use string and wire to try and keep the canes upright as my plants got taller towards the greenhouse roof. It's been a time consuming, on the hoof solution. Ideally, next year, I'll just use the rings now I have them. I've tested one by inserting it into the apex bar and it's incredibly strong. It should easily hold up a tomato vine. I intend to put a row of these rings on each side of the greenhouse roof above each pot. I will then suspend a string from the rings from the roof that way, and place the other end underneath a young plant as I pot them up. I've seen this done, where you then wind the plant around the string, or tie it in place as it grows. No need for canes at all.I think these nuts are simply genius. A simple, satisfying solution that works. They're easy to use. Screw the nut onto the bolt a little, insert the ring. Twist them into the gap in the bar, turn, then use the spanner supplied to tighten the nuts. After that, they don't budge. I can use them for my cucumbers too. I had put a trellis at the back of the greenhouse. If I'd had these, I could have just run a wire or string across. Hindsight eh?
5.0 out of 5 stars As good as anything on the market
Small box with a handy little spanner, these are slightly longer than previous ones I've bought but that's not a bad thing, it gives me some variety in awkward spots. They're not made from aluminium, they're made from an alloy of some sort, aluminium being weaker but it never rusts. The rings are good quality. The one shown in place in my photos was put in by hand without tools, so an easy loose fit which can then be tightened. You're getting lots for your money and I'm happy with them.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good quality bolts for hanging stuff in my greenhouse
These bolts are used to put into the channelling in the greenhouse, and simply fit in to the channel and then you twist them to lock them in place. The nut ensure they don't then untwist and fall out. The bolts have a hole drilled through them at the end and ring attached, so you are basically able to add rings all around your greenhouse to hang things from. These bolts and rings were very useful for threading climbing wire through to support my cucumbers and tomato plants. Not it's coming to the end of the season, all I have to do is unscrew the bolts to remove the extra wiring - simples. The bolts are good quality and I've been using them all season, so well pleased with them.
5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Greenhouse Accessory
For some time I've been searching for replacements for the deteriorating plastic eyes that I've had for decades. These metal rings attached to bolts are a perfect substitute and fit the standard slots found in most greenhouse frames. .The items come neatly packaged in a box. The parts are individually packaged and need to be assembled before use. Thoughtfully, the 10mm spanner is included in the box.For easy installation it's best to assemble the bolt, nut and ring beforehand otherwise it can be fiddly toinstall. Next, simply fit the cropped head of the bolt into the slot in the frame in its required location and twist until it grips. Tighten the nut by hand initially then use the provided spanner for a strong grip. Continue installing the bolts wherever you need them; in my case I use them to support lengths of twine horizontally from which I hang twine vertically to support tomatoes, cucumbers etc. A great advantage which I could not achieve with my plastic eyes is that these bolts can be inserted in difficult access locations eg. the gable end of the greenhouse (see photo).I have used all 20 bolts in my 6ft x 16ft greenhouse mainly to support twine during the growing season. However, they are sturdy items so others may find alternative uses. The bolt and nut being aluminium and stainless steel will resist corrosion for a very long time. For anyone requiring strong supports on your greenhouse frame these bolts are an essential accessory.
