I would highly recommend this book particularly for those who feel drawn to the life of St. Francis of Assisi – The Little Poor Man (Poverello). In fact, anyone with an interest in this most popular saint should find The Failed Franciscan an appealingly honest and candid account of one person’s struggle to live the Gospel in our modern world as St. Francis lived it. The word failure is given a far more positive interpretation than might normally be understood. The discovery is made that everyone has weaknesses, and fall short of Gospel and Franciscan ideals, but for all who fail, encouragement is provided to joyfully begin again in following the charism of this saint who still touches the hearts of humble souls.
