5.0 out of 5 stars SO SMOOTH and exceptionally sturdy.
This grinder is so quality. You can feel it in every single part. From the handle that folds, to the bearing that keeps it smooth and even as it turns. It's HEAVY and gorgeous. It was clearly designed by someone who really cares and the whole experience of using it is just a pleasure, no annoyances at all. It's super expensive, but it's an investment. This thing should never break. It's very simple to use - you just pull the top off, pour the beans in (I got enough for four mugs of drip coffee) and grind away. You can adjust the size of the grind by turning the top section, like a little camera lens. It's numbered and marked so when you find your perfect setting you always know exactly where to come back to. The base is also non-slip so it won't travel anywhere when you're cranking away, which is nice. The coffee grinds collect in the bottom and you have to unscrew it to get them out. Magnetised would have been better, but I understand the screw-fit and I'm okay with it. The burr is partially exposed on the bottom, so it's easy for me to clean using the supplied brush as I only use one specific type of coffee beans, but if you change up your beans you might have issues really cleaning out for a new flavour as the powder does get comfy up in there. As for the coffee - the beans come out BEAUTIFULLY. I tried on a few different settings, and they were much better than either of my other manual and electric grinders. There were no coarser grounds or chunks, just a smooth and uniform powder. I love this thing; my other grinders have gone into the charity bag as I've been ruined by quality. Love it.Honourable mention: this is the smoothest handle I've ever witnessed on any kind of mechanism ever in my life.
5.0 out of 5 stars If you are serious about your coffee, you will seriously love this!
[I received this product for free, in exchange for an honest review, as part of the Bolo Vine programme. That being said, this review is NOT swayed by that, and (as always) contains only my real thoughts on the product; good and bad.]I requested the ‘Manual Coffee Grinder S3 TIMEMORE, External Adjustment, Folding Handle, Upgrade Integrated All-Metal Body’ S3 Green to grind coffee as part of my morning coffee ritual. There is nothing nicer than the smell and taste of fresh ground coffee. I usually grind my coffee beans in an electric grinder, this manual grinder is a game changer. The S3 TIMEMORE grinder is a tactile object, not only does it grind the beans with precision, the process of grinding them is a pleasure. I enjoy making coffee, it is my time to create and enjoy before the daily chaos starts. The quality of this grinder is top notch. The colour is as I expected it to be from the seller’s description, a pretty olive green. It grinds 30 grams of beans at a time which is perfect, as I want my coffee to be freshly ground and not sitting pre-ground in the fridge. The grinder has a storage bag and cleaning brush, which is a nice touch. The branded cardboard box, in which it arrived, was a bit of a let down. I initially thought it was mouldy but on closer inspection there are, what appear to be, bubbles and dust in the wrap? If I were to give this as a gift, I would want it to look a bit sharper on delivery for the price of £169.99, at the time of this review. Otherwise, I cannot fault it. I love this machine. It is quiet and has added another pleasurable dimension to my morning coffee making ritual. 5 stars.
4.0 out of 5 stars Expensive but creates a beautifully fine grind
This is a beautiful coffee grinder that looks as much a work of art as a piece of kitchen equipment! It is surprisingly compact, taking up next to no space in your kitchen when the handle is folded in. It is also small and light enough that it could be carried with you when travelling if you can't be away from your ground coffee during a holiday or business trip! The grinder has a black anodised finish, with knurled rings to provide grip, and feels extremely solid. There is a collecting cup which screws onto the bottom and when unscrewed this reveals the base of the burr grinder. The top is removed to insert the beans, and is then reattached so that the handle can turn the grinder. The size of grind is chosen by rotating the selector ring towards the top of the grinder (very clearly marked) and the grind ranges from the largest which is suitable for drip roast or percolators, to an extremely fine grind for espresso. The fine grind is particularly impressive and produced a very smooth espresso from my home roasted beans.Despite the overall quality and appearance there is one small aspect that I found particularly frustrating and which I hope the manufacturer will address on future models. When the collecting cup at the base is unscrewed coffee grounds are stuck to the inside of the grinder and need to be swept our using the supplied brush. Unfortunately, because the bottom is screw mounted, the threads for this are exposed and attract the ground coffee when you are trying to sweep it out, meaning that they get stuck in the threads.Other than that it is a fantastic piece of coffee making equipment, as well as being very green since you use elbow power to make it work, and only the exorbitant price results in the loss of a star for value for money.
