5.0 out of 5 stars Great bracelet making kit
Lovely toy for primary school aged children. Has everything you need to make some lovely bracelets including a plastic braiding loom, pendants, button closures, and other accessories. Good quality and hours of entertainment. £22.99 with a 15% off voucher at the time of review. Highly recommended.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and interesting hobby for teenagers and young adults
It is really fun to do these bracelets. It has 14 different colour strings and it has 5 different sets of nods and ways to make bracelets. Interesting pass time for teen kids and young adults. It has detailed instructions with pictures and step by step guides. It has a drawer for keeping all strings. There are 4 type of accessories which can be incorporated into the bracelets. The form is of good quality build and helps making the bracelets a lot. The primary method of making the bracelets is makrame method of tying nods. Good value for money.
4.0 out of 5 stars Complete kit but expensive unless you get it at the right price
I don't really like that there are bits of plastic now to do things we used to do by tying the string on the back of a chair, but actually this bracelet kit is quite helpful and my 9 year old and her friends found it great to be able to make high quality bracelets. The little pins hold the string well so you can do more complex designs without getting in a mess and the kit contains lots of good threads and add-ons. The instructions are OK but the kids soon went off with their own designs. This was £22.99 at time of review, though had a 20% voucher which you'd need as at full price it's a but expensive.
5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun and learning to be had.
My GF & I child mind here niece & nephew a few times a week, we try to make sure they have activities that involve crafts and things that get the imagination going at least some of the time each visit.A few months ago we got some bead bracelet making sets which went down very well so we figured it was time for something that expands on that theme. This set contains a selection of beads & trinkets for the bracelets and an instruction manual as you would expect which outlines how to do the various knots and shows how to use them to make some of the patterns. But the star of the show is the bracelet maker base, it's this that separates this kit from so many others and makes it so much easier for kids to get their plaits & weaves right first time.I've seen kits that had clips and hooks that secured the tied end but this is the first one I've seen that made it easy to take care of the end you are actually working on and lays everything out in a way that's easy to see & keep track of.Inside the bracelet maker there's a drawer that holds the threads which is a great idea as they can all too easily get tangled and unusable if they are just stuffed into a bag altogether. At the beginning of the instructions there are the words "START HERE:" that's an interesting choice of words especially when it's followed by "The Four Basic Bracelet Knots".Of course it's meant as the opening of the instructions, but there are many many ways to do knots and weaves for things like this and an inquisitive kid who wants to inject their own creativity into the things they make will hunt them down, they do it at school among their friends & even art teachers, they'll look up projects and videos online and some will even go to libraries and seek out books. While a fun little kits like this are ideal for passing away a rainy afternoon they can also be a gateway into world of creativity and art, developing skills that are incredibly important in so many ways.Five stars.
3.0 out of 5 stars This Did Not Work Very Well and the Embroidery Silks Were Stuck Together with Glue from the Wrapping
With Taylor Swift blazing the trail for Friendship Bracelets I thought this kit would be a nice present for my 10 year old niece when it came up for review on the Bolo Vine programme. The set comes in a nicely illustrated box with a colourful sheet of instructions to help you get started. I have added pictures of the instructions which I have numbered as Bolo will mix them up.Examining the contents of the box revealed the “loom” which has a drawer containing a stock of 28 coloured threads and a couple of additional bags contained letter cubes, buttons etc. to incorporate in your designs. The 3M stickers included with the accessories are non-slip feet for the loom and are not for use in the bracelets themselves. After looking over the kit and taking review photographs I browsed the instructions and encouraged her to get started.Instruction “02” said, “slide the papers off the pre-cut threads”. This was impossible to do. On three of our four chosen colours the paper was well and truly stuck to the thread. We had to pick it off with our finger nails and this spoiled the thread to some extent by parting the fibres. After sorting out the threads I left her to get on with making her first friendship bracelet. An hour later I went to see what progress had been made. Only about 3cm of friendship bracelet had been woven and that had required the help of her aunt. I commented on the lack of progress and was told the instructions weren’t clear and the slots that are supposed to anchor the threads until it comes time to use them were too wide and they didn’t do a good job of keeping the treads in place.Something that was supposed to be fun to use had proved difficult to set up and frustrating. Both my niece and her aunt are quite expert at handy-crafts, knitting, embroidery needlework, etc. and I rely on their appraisal of this friendship bracelet making kit when I give three stars.
5.0 out of 5 stars Simple to use
This is one of the simpler bracelet maker I’ve used. Having the draws to store the thread is a great idea too! Good quality although my daughter finds the draws abit stiff to open.
