    We are caring for an elderly relative, who requires 24/7 care and needs assistance with practically everything. She can walk a few steps around the house with assistance, but if we need to take her anywhere outside the house, a wheelchair is a necessity.Places like hospitals are set up for this kind of thing with low angled curbs, but that is not the case everywhere, including our own house which has steps leading out the front and rear doors. Manoeuvring that wheelchair over the steps without a ramp would be tricky by itself, but downright dangerous with a sitting person, so something like this can be vital.The ramp can move between 6 cm and 15 cm in height and easily supports the weight, though I gather the same manufacturer offer a second version that will handle steeper steps, which might be needed by some.It has to be said, this is not cheap, but I suppose it is a fairly niche product that is fairly essential for some like ourselves. The ramp is flat by design, and has a handle for easy transport, plus it could easily b placed in the boot of a car and is not too heavy. The surface has good grip comparable to really coarse sandpaper to avoid slippage, so I would say it has been thoughtfully designed and should last forever, as long as you do not exceed the 300 kilo limit.The finish is not exactly immaculate around the points where it has been joined, however it is sturdy and that is what really counts here. It has a couple of pins attached by chains that can be used to fix the ramp in place, though you would need to drill the holes in the surface. I hadn't thought about it previously, but I can also see this being useful with our wheelbarrow in the garden.

    This is a £170 product. It comes in very basic box with no additional protection. Mine arrived damaged due to this. Not huge damage but enough to make me annoyed at the lack of effort made in getting it to me in good condition. Functionally it works and after some use it won't matter so much at the condition i got it in but when paying this kind of money it seems like a good investment to protect it on its way. I could have gotten something used for less than half the price of this.

    This is a perfect wheelchair ramp.I ordered it for my father to get his wheelchair and hand trolley (Zimmer frame) in and out of his house.It's really good and he has full confidence in it.The non-slip surface is excellent and robust.The weight rating is 500Kg so can support most sized people.Easy to install (I haven't used the pins) and easy to keep clean.Most importantly, it's easy for him to use.Good value for money.
