5.0 out of 5 stars A Versatile Workhorse
This fancy soldering station attempts to bridge the gap between casual hobbyists and professional electronics repair technicians. It boasts a combination of a C210 soldering iron and C120 hot tweezers, making it a potentially versatile tool for a range of soldering tasks, particularly surface mount device (SMD) work and micro soldering. The combination of a soldering iron and hot tweezers in one unit is a significant advantage. It saves desk space and eliminates the need for separate devices. The C210 iron is known for its fast heat-up and precise temperature control, while the C120 tweezers are ideal for removing and placing SMD components. The digital display and controls allow for accurate and stable temperature settings, crucial for delicate soldering work. This is particularly important for avoiding damage to sensitive electronic components. The use of cartridge-style tips for both the iron and tweezers is a great feature. It allows for quick tip changes without having to deal with hot components. The quality of the tips provided seems reasonable, but upgrading to higher-end cartridges may further improve performance. Both the iron and tweezers heat up rapidly, reducing wait times and improving workflow efficiency. The precision and fine tips provided make this unit well-suited for working with smaller components commonly found on modern circuit boards. The hot tweezers are a game changer for removing stubborn SMD components.
5.0 out of 5 stars Best ever kit
The last time I tried soldering was about 10 years ago and I had some DIY projects I haven't got as sturdy hand as I did back then but this bit of kit is excellent made me feel like I still had my skills. The quality is second to none the tweezers are something I haven't used before however are brilliant once you get the hang of it the accurate temperature on the display along with the maintaing of said temperature is brilliant. For something so good you'd expect it to be bulky but this barely takes up any space in my workshop really impressed by the compactness of itReally happy and would definitely recommend to any professional or someone just doing DIY at home perfect bit of kit
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent
Soon as you start unboxing this soldering station you cant fail to be impressed by the quality,it's definitely a profession station and nothing like the cheaper ones you can get.I am no soldering pro so can only tell you my findings which are the Iron heats up fast and there is a goodselection of bits for it. The tweezers take some getting used to but I dont really do any surface mount work so wont use them much. The buttons and menus seem a little complicated at first but you soon get used to them and its easy to set the desired temp which is the most important thing.Being able to adjust the temp on the Iron itself is nice and I like the overall design of the station.A+ from me
4.0 out of 5 stars Serious kit
While I'll probably never take advantage of this fully, i've been very happy so far.The build quality is decent, perhaps a little plasticky but solid enough and it’s a compact unit, more so than I expected. The copper mesh pots for cleaning tips work well, but the smaller foam pads seem unnecessary, certainly for how I work. The controls are good being nice sized buttons and they're not crowded. The display* is bright and clear, but it could do with more tilt when looking down on it. The way it swaps automatically between the irons is cool and it feels slick. Finally the base feet help it stay planted on the bench and overall it looks like a serious bit of kit.*While in use the display offers lot of useful information. In contrast the setup menu is pretty simple and it was a little disappointing there was no volume control for the buzzer unless I missed it. It's either on or off with no nuance. In actual use it was excellent for smaller tasks and fine work. The temperature adjustments in 1 degree increments is way overkill for me, but it’s nice to have the option. The traditional iron** is comfortable with its soft rubber grip although inserting the tip requires force. You can use the workstation to help, but there is room for improvement in my view. Heat up time is rapid reaching the set temperature in seconds and auto calibration seems to work well. I’ve no separate test kit to confirm how accurate it is though. It’s worth nothing the unit does struggle a bit on large soldering jobs due to the 130W power limit, but it’s not really for meant to big tasks with it being as noted aimed at finer work.**I’m still getting my head around the tweezers, it’s a new thing to me so building up my skillsOverall, it’s a decent piece of kit. Features like the clamp soldering iron and dual calibration add versatility, and the 1 degree temperature adjustments will appeal to those needing absolute precision. It’s premium price for some premium hardware. For me there are just a few things I’d like to seem improved to warrant the price of £399 at the time of ordering. Nothing that impacts the use, just refinements hence the 4 stars.
