4.0 out of 5 stars Well designed 3D printed mount, accepts screws well. Should last subject to sticky mount pads
This review is for "Mars Outpost Universal No-Drill Sticky Wall Mount compatible with Hikvision Ubiquiti G4 Video Doorbell 2nd Gen, 3, 3 Plus, 4, Pro Pro 2, Wired or Battery Wireless Security Camera, & others Adhesive (REGULAR size)."When I first opened this product I was sceptical - its another 3D printed item that looks like it was done on someones bedroom printer. Usually these kind of products break easily, but this one does seem to be well-engineered by comparison. I thought it would split when I put the screws in, but it seems to grip and hold them well. It is a little oversized for my Ring Wired, but thats inevitable given the range of models it is sized to cover - given it is 3D printed, it wouldn t be hard to make one the right size for a smaller doorbell. There is a gap in the middle for wires, and the manufacturer chose to make a green plastic container to put in the hole for screws, washers etc - that feels a bit unnecessary, a gripseal bag would do and save on the extra non-recyclable plastic.3M sticky pads are included for the no-drill attachment. Unfortunately there was no alcohol cleaning wipe - buyers please note it is essential to clean down both surface with an alocohol wipe before sticking...otherwise the sticky pads will stick to the film of dirt/oil/detergent etc on your surface instead of on to the surface itself. I have some spare from a screen protector kit, so I will use those when it is time to install it permanently.I think overall its a good design, seems strong enough, accepts screws readily - and will be great subject to how long the sticky pads grip for. It could probably be ripped off if someone wanted to, but these doorbells are always vulnerable to a physical attack anyway.I leave it with four stars rating as there should have been alcohol wipes with the sticky pads. The price at the time of review was around £11 which seems fair.
3.0 out of 5 stars Convenient but overpriced and not a secure way to mount ring 3 doorbell without drills/screws
Look - if you are buying a ring doorbell and you are not going to drill/screw it to brick or pvc or aluminium or whatever material you have then be aware this is basically a piece of plastic 3d printed by someone who has realised you can sell a plastic block for £2 or £11 if you say it's for a ring video doorbell with a custom carry case and bevelled edges.I have this on the door now and can confirm it sticks like bird guano to your windshield after its dried in the heat of the sun for a week after being underneath the only tree you could find parking for your hospital appointment that you were late for.But I can pull it slightly side to side which means it can literally be ripped off anytime. Now knowing this would I still have purchases this? Yes. Because I can't be trusted with a drill - I barely got my pen licence in school and if you give me a drill I will make a hole that is in wonky or in the wrong place or both.My last ring video doorbwell was mounted by my brother - you can't trust anyone in my family with a drill and he is a dentist so go figure. Anyway - long story short - he mounted it wonky and I bear a grudge against him ever since. So when I moved to a new place I decided I would glue the bugger in place and I don't care if it gets ripped off. To be honest there are ring bells everywhere now I expect they have no resale value. Do you remember when people used to use your door knocker or the window or just shout out they had arrived? Why do we even need ring door bells?Anyhoo - get this if you can't be arsed/trusted to use a drill and then screw the ring bell to this. It's custom made apparently but it looks like a 3d printed bit if plastic or composite to me. Took 10 mins although I mounted it at the right height with no left/right leaning angle which I think you would have to buy a different bit of 3d printed plastic for.Been up 2 weeks and it's still there and I live in a rough area.Made by some people who live on the red planet and have been out there for a while apparently.
4.0 out of 5 stars Basically a plastic block with stickers on the back
This works as designed. I have managed to fix a ring doorbell to an area that I didn't want to drill. The adhesive seems nice and strong - time will tell if it will hold up to the weather.Considering this is basically just a block of plastic, the price seems a bit excessive. But it does do what it is supposed to.
4.0 out of 5 stars “Straight forward to use!”
This is lite and good fit. The size is just right and straight forward to use. Versatile to use and good alternative. Price is a bit expensive for me.
Easy To Install
This product is essential if you're installing a video doorbell or security camera on a glass window or metal door, offering a great alternative to drilling. The installation is easy, and I’m hopeful the adhesive tape will hold up for years. However, the doorbell or camera is only secured by two double-sided adhesive pads, making it easy to remove, which may not be the most secure solution.
