Item received in good condition in a nice branded box. This is a great option for a Wi-Fi extender for my house especially as we tend to loose Wi-Fi towards the rear of our property and this allows for a smart solution and a very clever design aspect so that you can hide the router in plain sight.This is very smart and simple to set up and only requires only a plug socket for power and we have it sat on a console table plugged in and have used the photo frame and you would just never know that it really is a router. The look of it as a photo frame is really quite smart.I am not a big tech person but I know enough to get by. From a tech point of view for my needs and requirements this is more than enough and has plenty of options and different ways you can use this. I have set it as a Wi-Fi extender to give better coverage in a weak area of our house and it is working just fine.

No just provide speedy and safe connection but also cleverly designed to be discreet and blend in your home. Very straightforward and quick to install. We have no problem using it so far. I do notice that this provides better signal on areas of the house that has poor signal before. We definitely have better technology now compared to our 5 year old router.

Unfassbar viele Möglichkeiten für einen sehr kleinen Preis
Fritzbox, Router vom Provider oder eine "wilde Bastellösung", das waren die Möglichkeiten, die es zu DSL-Zeiten gab. Durch den stetigen Glasfaserausbau kann man auf das DSL-Modem verzichten und so geniale Geräte wie diesen Router anschließen. (Natürlich unterstützt dieser Router keine Telefonie, aber wer braucht schon ein Festnetztelefon ;) ).Und was ich hier geboten bekomme, reicht aus, um wochenlang damit zu spielen - wenn man will. Und das ist das Tolle an dem Router. Wenn ich mal keine Lust habe zu zocken, dann richte ich das Gerät schnell per App oder Browser ein und fertig.Die Standardoberfläche bietet so viele Funktionen und das ist einfach erklärt, zusätzlich kann man noch auf die OpenWRT LuCi Oberfläche umschalten, was selbst für mich als Informatiker ein absoluter Overkill an Funktionen ist. Also bleibe ich bei der Standardoberfläche von Gl.iNet.Damit ist die Zielgruppe des Routers klar umrissen: Für alle, die keinen Festnetzanschluss oder ein DSL/Cabel Modem benötigen.-Glasfaser-WLAN-Router für Mama? Check-IT-Nerd, der ein paar Standorte per VPN vernetzen will? Check-Zwei Freunde, die ihre Streamingboxen im gleichen Haus per VPN vernetzen wollen? Check-usw.Was kann man mit diesem Router machen?-Netzwerkbetrieb als Router, Access Point, Extender oder Repeater möglich-Multi WAN - man kann mehrere Internetzugänge nutzen, entweder als Fallback bei Ausfällen oder zur Lastverteilung.-LAN Ports können als WAN Ports konfiguriert werden und umgekehrt (die Beschriftung in der GUI ist verwirrend)Gast-Netzwerk und Gast-WLAN- VPN - OpenVPN und Wireguard als Client und Server, aber auch ZeroTier und Tailscale--Beim VPN kann man den Proxy Modus wählen, d.h. ob die Daten immer über das VPN geschickt werden sollen oder nur der Traffic von einem bestimmten Gerät oder zu einer bestimmten IP Domain. So kann man z.B. nur den TV oder die Streamingbox über das VPN laufen lassen...weil sie sich irgendwo anders wohler fühlt ;).- Unzählige Openwrt Endungen - hier muss man wissen was man tut.- Adguard - Werbeblocker für das ganze Netz.- Dyndns-Dienst und Cloud-Zugriff auf den Router können ebenfalls eingerichtet werden.- Tor Router- und vieles mehr.Nur von Bark habe ich nichts gefunden (außer der installierten Erweiterung). Ich vermute, das liegt an meinem Netzwerk. Bark selbst soll eine kostenpflichtige, aber gute Kindersicherung sein. Die eingebaute von GL.inet kann nur zeitbasierte Sperren.Gerade die einfache Einrichtung des Adguards hat mich beeindruckt. Genauso wie die Performance des Gerätes. Jedes Menü ist sofort geöffnet, alle Daten werden angezeigt. Da kann keine Fritzbox mithalten.Und dann habe ich noch kein Wort über den Rahmen verloren. Hier wird dem kleinen unscheinbaren Gerät ein großes Gehäuse verpasst, was auf den ersten Blick seltsam erscheint, aber Sinn machen kann, wenn man sich an der Optik stört. In meinen Bildern sieht man den Größenvergleich mit einem Speedport Smart4.Aber ich habe auch ein paar negative Punkte:Die Beta Preview der nächsten Firmware 4.7 sieht auch super aus, ist aber leider noch nicht für diesen Router verfügbar.Außerdem habe ich bei der Ersteinrichtung als Repeater versehentlich das falsche WLAN-Passwort eingegeben. Daraufhin hat der Router keine WLANs mehr gefunden, egal was man gemacht hat. Zum Glück merkte der Router von selbst, dass etwas nicht stimmte und empfahl einen Neustart.Wenn der Router noch einen USB-Port hätte und man einen USB-LTE-Stick anschließen könnte, wäre es der perfekte Reise-Router, aber leider fehlt der USB-Port.Die GUI ist in ein gut verständliches Deutsch übersetzt, die Dokumentation auf der GL.INET Seite ist jedoch nur in Englisch verfügbar. Zum Glück gibt es überall in der GUI Hilfetexte, so dass man nicht auf die Dokumentation angewiesen ist.Leider ist die SSID von 2.4 und 5Ghz WLAN in den Standardeinstellungen unterschiedlich. Das ist meiner Meinung nach nicht mehr zeitgemäß. Natürlich kann man das schnell ändern, aber unerfahrene Benutzer verlieren dadurch Performance.Aktuell kostet der Router 99 € - 35 € Rabatt, was ein unglaublich günstiger Preis für dieses Gesamtpaket ist. Die Einsatzmöglichkeiten sind so unglaublich vielfältig und durch die sehr einfache GUI werden diese vielen Möglichkeiten auch unerfahrenen Benutzern leicht zugänglich gemacht.
A bit picky
This is a very nice and discrete router. However, the advanced setting can be a bit finicky and it's wireless strength isn't the greatest. Anything bigger than an apartment will need additional coverage.
Super vielseitig und Preis/Leistung passt (bis 65€)
Sehr leistungsfähig mit toller Admin Oberfläche und nützliche Features (vor allem Vpn, Adguard). Einziger Kritikpunkt der oft angebracht wird ist die alte OpenWrt Version, ist für mich nicht kritisch da die Firmware ja nur darauf basiert/aufbaut - es läuft nicht native darauf wie bei anderen Modellen. Die Firmware ist aktuell und aktuellste Standards wie WPA3 werden unterstützt- so what. Bin bis jetzt sehr zufrieden! Der Preis ist allerdings nach meiner Meinung nur bis ca. 65€ OK (Angebot bei GLinet direkt) sonst zu teuer
Gl-inet does it again!
I've long been surprised no one has really come up with this concept before. Maybe they have, but certainly not any of the bigger brands that manufacture wifi devices. As with most Gi-inet products, this comes with a modified openwrt install, which allows you all kinds of flexibility. The software allows for VPNs, Adguard, and a whole slew of options. Gl-inet has always been pretty good at updating software too, and this will, I'm sure, continue to be a solid wifi router.With it being Wifi 6, it offers some of the more advanced wifi technology (not 6E or 7), but that still has the ability to offer some great speeds. With my gigabit internet, connecting via my iPhone 15 Pro, I was able to hit wifi speeds of around 600 Mpbs down, and maxed out my upload connection speed of 40 Mbps down. That is when right next to the router. At further distances, that continues to drop, and in my 3200 sq ft home, I really need another unit to act as an AP or another AP to assist. In the further corners of the house, speeds drop to around 30 Mbps down and 5-7 Mbps up. Not horrible considering Gl-iNet advertises this to have 1500 sq ft coverage.I do really love the idea of having this be a picture frame. It definitely will pass the wife test. Who would not be okay with a wifi router that has a picture frame? The next level, of course, would be to make it a digital photo frame with rotating photos. Who knows, maybe that is version 2.0, but the Marble's concept is great, and really does a good job of blending into your regular home decor.All in all, for the price of $80, although there is a $20 coupon right now, it's hard to find another router option that is this good for this price. Yes, you can pay more for better, but if you're looking for something under $100, this is a solid option. Great software with all the advanced features you'd want. A solid company that provides good support. Good community, etc. Highly recommend getting this if you're in the market for a wifi 6 router at this price point.
