    Delivered securely and boxed in a branded box, the delivery person checked my age as with any restricted items such as blades which was great. The 23-piece Carving Tools Kit is a comprehensive kit that I think would work for all those interested in carving on opening.The kit includes an arrangement of tools and materials which all appear well made - certainly impressive. Four carving knives and five detail knives alongside nine basswood blocks, a strop block, a polishing compound, and protective gloves all of which can be stored in a convenient bag that is included. This organization not only makes it easy to transport but also ensures that everything you might need is effectively contained in one spot. For someone who appreciates order, this was a definite plus.The quality of the materials is a standout aspect of this kit. The basswood blocks are soft for effortless carving. As a beginner, I found the basswood forgiving enough to help me without becoming overly frustrated. The leather strop and polishing compound also allow you to maintain the tools, with regular sharpening which I am sure is essential for intricate work like carving.The carving knives are crafted from stainless steel infused with Mo. V alloy, promising durability and rust resistance. Each blade is pre-sharpened, making them ready to use right out of the box. During my sessions, I didn’t experience any issues with dullness, allowing for a precise carving.     A budget , beginners wood carving set with carving knives , chisels, leather strop , polishing compound and small wooden blocks.The blocks are really small so only suitable for small whittling or carving projects, too small for spoons but could be used for small carving figures.The knives are sharp , I find some of the handles too wide , not the best ergonomically designed handles compared to other carving knives I've used but others may find them more comfortable.The chisels of various styles have thinner handles made from lightweight wood.I like that you get the hook knife for carving spoons, bowls and other types of knives for fine detail and heavy duty carving.The gloves were too small for me , they look basic quality but could give a little protection for people with smaller hands.I like that it all comes in a case for safe storage, also there's plastic blade covers to protect the blades and for safety reasons.The strop and compound is a nice bonus to help keep the knives sharp and safer to use.Overall I think it's a nice beginners set , not premium quality but good for people taking up the hobbies of carving , whittling before they spend money on expensive knives , a good starter kit.I think you get a lot for £20 so it's a good value set , bigger blocks would be better rather than a lot of small ones.

    I am a keen amature carpenter, I have a small workshop in my garage and I make small items of wooden furniture and other wooden items such as serving and chopping boards. I have considered carving a great deal recently and decided it was time to give it a go. I ordered this relatively low priced set just to see if this type of woodworking was for me or not. When the set arrived I was very impressed and very excited to give it a go. The set came with 4 sharp carving knives 5 Detail Knives, 9 Basswood Blocks, Strop Block, Polishing Compound, PU Bag & Gloves. Now the gloves are listed as being safety gloves designed to protect your hands from the very sharp knives they provide in this set. So we have this nice looking set with all the equipment and wood needed to start a little wooden spoon creation project. However I immediately slipped with the carving knife hitting my gloved left hand. I didn't hit it hard it was just a glancing blow as I slipped off the side of the block of wood but as the knife hit my left hand luckily I immediately pulled the hand away from the path of the knife resulting in as I say a very light glancing hit. this light hit with the knife should have had no effect whatsoever after all I am wearing the supplied safety gloves. But no if you look at the pictures you will see that the light blow has cut a hole in the glove right through to the skin. I was lucky that I pulled my hand away from the knife and didn't suffer any damage to my hand but I have to say that is no thanks to the gloves. I went to my local timber merchants today and I have got myself a pair of real safety gloves, they cost me almost as much as the carving set but at least I can have confidence that I am not going to chop straight through them with the slightest touch of the carving knife. I have given this set only three stars, even though I think the carving knives are of a reasonable standard the safety gloves are not DO NOT TRUST THE GLOVES if you do decide to use the provided gloves be very very careful when learning to carve... Mine are in the bin and I am going to use the real safety gloves I purchased instead as I want to keep all my fingers...

    I've been looking for some carving tools as I'm doing a ceramics course and need sharp implements for carving decorative detail in the clay. I came across these, which although advertised for woodworking, seemed to be just what I was looking for. They're very sharp, have versatile blades and angles, come with gloves and a sharpening strop and are packaged carefully to avoid accidental injury. (They even come with little wood blocks to start off your carving projects.) I think this carving set - whether for woodworking as intended or ceramics – is good value for money.
