    Lovely, height adjustable, standing desk that arrives in a reasonably small box (I did have a panic it would arrive ready built and wasn’t sure how I would get it to where I wanted it in one piece!). It’s a well made desk and looks good. It weighs 24kg and measures 120D x 60W x 120H cm. Reasonably priced for a non solid wood desk. (£159.99 with a £30 off voucher at the time of review). Highly recommended.

    I was looking at sit/stand desks a few years ago but was put off by the price. I have a painful condition which means I can't get about as much as I did and spend far too much time sitting in front of the computer, while my wife now works from home, which is great but lacks those impulses which get you off your backside every now and then - have a chat with a colleague, walk to a meeting, make coffee etc. For both of us, therefore, it would be useful to have a sit/stand desk with an automatic electric raise/lower function so that we could vary our positions throughout the day.So when this came up for review I jumped at the chance, and I'm very impressed. It's chipboard veneer but you wouldn't know it to look at it; it's very smart and doesn't feel like it's one of those where bits will start peeling away (EDIT - but see comment at end of review). Most importantly, this thing is solid - as you put it together you have absolute faith that it wont bend, break, throw the gearing out, anything like that. In use it's very stable; you don't need to worry about heavy typing making things shudder.The motor is very quiet in operation; you can manually adjust the height to your heart's content, or set 3 memorised heights - one push and the desk moves itself to your selected position.Little things like the raised rear shelf for monitors and the inbuilt 4 x 13A and 1 x USBA and 1 x USBC outlets are a nice touch.Construction took about 50 minutes on my own; the instructions are good and the assembly is straighforward. They don't seem to count the number of screws particularly carefully but since this left me with spares rather than falling short I don't mind.There is 27cm of space under the desktop before you reach the drive shaft so if, like me, you like an under desk pull out keyboard shelf there is enough room to fit one youself.If I had one criticism it's more a missed opportunity than anything wrong with the desk as specified - as the desk surface comes in three parts it would have been easy, by providing two drive shaft length options (basically, two inexpensive lengths of steel) and slightly redesigning the monitor shelf, to have allowed you to configure this desk at its full 120cm width or, by leaving out the middle section, to reduce it to 80cm for placing in tight spaces, such as the chimney corner alcove my PC desk currently sits in. That's absolutely not a criticism, just a suggestion; I reckon they'd sell more that way.Anyway, as things stand (or sit) I'm delighted and this desk was just about to get five stars when I double checked the sales page and saw that it very clearly states that "the table top is made from integrated whole block solid wood panels". No, they aren't; they're veneered chipboard. Good veneered chipboard, but chipboard nonetheless. You can even see it in the sales photos, where the grain doesn't match across the sides at the corners.I don't know whether this is a simple translation misunderstanding or what, but there's sadly no way I can give five stars to a product which doesn't match the sales page promises. Silly, because if they correct that, it's five stars.As it stands, four stars.
