Heavy-duty mechanical keyboard
This mechanical keyboard is ideal for gaming and any high-speed typing. The weight of the keyboard is about 1.2 kg, and it is very stable but heavy. Therefore, it should be a great keyboard for stationary use, but might not be for mobile users. The keystroke is linear with no pressure change throughout the stroke, and bottoming out feels pleasantly firm. Typing noise is minimal and rather thocky. The actuation point feels shallow, and seems to be optimized for fast typing. The backlit LED is very bright, but please note that they are south-facing LEDs, and the keycap legends are marked on the side of the caps. The legends are difficult to read when the LED is not lit, and it might be challenging for those not proficient in touch typing. I swapped some of keycaps, but shine-through keys did not light up very well because of the LED arrangement. The keyboard is very heavy, comparable to a small laptop. Combined with the strong grip of the rubber feet, it provides great stability during use. I am still using old IBM type-M keyboards for some computers, and the rigidity of this product reminds me of those good-old keyboards. It works perfectly with all connections: wired, USB dongle, or Bluetooth.
Glad that this was the first keyboard I chose
I was hesitant to get this keyboard because of the lack of reviews (when I picked it, there were 0), but knew that Mechlands had other keyboards that rated well so I decided to give it a shot because I loved the layout.and I'm so happy I did.I did swap the switches and keycaps, but I'm totally using those switches in the next board I work on because they are so softly poppy and nice.the only downside is that the stabs aren't lubed at all, so I have to get some with my next Bolo purchase as it is causing my + key on my numpad to stick from time to time.but I'm glad I went with this one, esp for the 20% discount?! it ended up being $6X and that's an awesome price for a first keyboard imo.
Nice Linear keycaps and typing feels very smooth and quiet
These are not the quietest keys but typing feels very smooth and quiet enough as linear keycaps. The overall build of the keyboard is very nice and premium, it also has a bit of weight in it. Tested on 2.4 and wired, there are no lags/delays and works perfectly fine for gaming and office work. Do note that once the keyboard is on standby, it takes about 2 seconds to reconnect, I am not sure why this keyboard and other similar 3rd party brands wireless keyboards all have this issue (Big Brands like Logitech G and Razer do not have this problem). You are paying for a no name brand so there are compromises that you will need to take, such as profession software support and overall quality and performance. Overall, this keyboard works perfectly fine and works without software, there are a quick reference card to tell you how to use the FN key + for features such as adjusting RGB lighting and brightness, media controls such as Play/Pause...etc and they all work. Speaking of software, in the description on Bolo for this product, it did mentioned about customizing with seller's software but it is not mentioned anywhere in the instruction manuals or even in the description on Bolo for this product that tells you where to download or if such software existed for this keyboard. I actually went to the seller's website and found out there is a software download section but there is no software for this keyboard and the website is not well organized with bugs such as product(s) disappearing on certain layout in product lists, missing links, descriptions, software download. This keyboard is a good keyboard, it may not comparable to top brands like Razer and Logitech G, but this keyboard works pretty well. However, in terms of demand for hard core gamer, I feel like for optimal performance, reliability and the lowest latency and response time for a gaming keyboard, you should go for big brands. The keyboard is priced at around $103 with discount which I think it's very reasonable, the battery seems to last a long time with regular use, you probably don't need to charge it for a week. The setup with BT and 2.4Ghz dongle are pretty easy and painless, just follow the instruction. This keyboard/brand has a good potential, but it's still a long way to catch up or be able to compare against big brands. Definitely this company/brand can improve to become very professional in the computer peripherals industry. Overall, a 4 Star product.
Attractive keyboard with some compromises
I got the grey version of this keyboard and I quite like it but it has a few quirks. I really like the compact keyboard layout while keeping the number pad but I found it frustrating that there were no default key binds for the missing keys. Also, no right control kinda stinks. It looks really nice with the dark key caps and black body, perfect for my space themed setup. The keys are a bit hard to read with the side panel keys, even with the RGB on full. The case, while plastic, stands out for sturdiness among many other keyboards I've tested. You can find drivers for this keyboard on Google Drive. (/drive/folders/18Jd6EEPT_U0MugJHM3-x84dD20fio9w0). The config is pretty basic, you can change the colors on some of the animations and make a custom static config. The colors are quite off so you will need to do some tweaking to get it just right, I set the rgb to (48, 255, 172) for white. There are a couple rainbow animations, some effects, and reactive ones. I found it really frustration that even in the software, there was no way to bind the missing keys, particularly PrntScr, which is a core part of my workflow. What is 'scroll lock' even for again?Anyway, overall, I do quite like this keyboard, I'd really like to see a version 2 with some of the quirks fixed. I think opting for brighter, more color accurate rgbs, and would greatly improve this keyboard along with adding missing keys as (fn) modifiers as default.
excellent keyboard
The MechLands Aula F99 PRO 96% Mechanical Keyboard is a dream come true for any keyboard enthusiast. This hot-swappable, gasket-mounted custom keyboard offers a seamless wireless experience through BT5.0, USB-C, and 2.4GHz, all backed by an impressive 8000mAh battery. The RGB backlits add a splash of vibrancy, but the real star here is the sound of the keys—pure mechanical bliss. Typing on it feels like a symphony, with each keystroke producing an incredibly satisfying sound. The responsiveness is top-notch, ensuring swift and precise inputs, whether you're gaming or working. I was initially skeptical about the keycaps having letters on the front side, but it turns out to be a non-issue. Each key is clearly visible, making it easy to adapt and ensuring a comfortable typing experience. The board itself is heavy with almost no flex, taking quite a bit of force to twist, underscoring its sturdy build quality. For anyone serious about their typing game, the Aula F99 PRO is a standout choice. It comes with a few extra switches, the USB C cable, a Wi-Fi dongle as well as a cap/switch puller.
