5.0 out of 5 stars Super small but mighty

A very small but quite mighty, bit hefty hammer, with a great grip handle and a dent on top where you can put the nails so as to hammer them in faster. Very nice.

PresentationThe Wnqou 8oz Claw Hammer with Shock Reduction Grip was supplied in a plastic sleeve wrap, with no branding or other details apparent.First ImpressionsTaking the hammer from the wrap for inspection, it is as depicted on the sellers page, a short handled claw hammer that features a milled head which you should be careful with as it will leave a milled pattern if you strike a surface unintentionally, and a magnetic nail holder which in all honesty is a little bit of a novelty as it can only accommodate a certain range of nail sizes. I do like the anti-shock handle as it provides a good grip and as stated absorbs some of the shock. The claw nail extractor works as well as they ever do but you don’t get as much leverage from the short handle, and the hanging hole at the bottom of the handle is good for storage or dangling off of a suitable hook or strap on a tool belt. The finishing on the hammer was a little rough in places not a smooth as depicted, but it is a hammer and the functionality at least is present.Day To Day UseLoved the pattern, wanted this for a wedding and it really did look the part, managed to keep Used this for some work on ceilings and walls recently in preparation for painting, removing nails and knocking some plasterboard nails in further (using a punch) also for starting some plasterboard screws off – it works fine for lighter DIY jobs where getting a big swing in isn’t necessary. It is handy to have in the small tool box and slips into my tool belt effortlessly.Summing UpApart from the slightly rough finishing and the ‘novelty’ nail holder this is a solid little claw hammer that does those smaller jobs around the house and garden with no fuss. Happy to have it and good value at the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very handy - especially for a woman.

I chose this mini claw hammer as I love to get involved in a bit of DIY. As a woman and ex-office worker I have spent many years typing, and as a result I have RSI (repetitive strain injury) in my wrist. This means I sometimes experience pain and aching in my wrists and I am not always able to hold a full-sized hammer. This smaller version is therefore ideal. It is easy and comfortable to hold, but still has a high-quality steel head. It also has the extra benefit of a magnetic nail holder. When I saw the milled head, my first thought was actually that it would be perfect in the kitchen for tenderising meat! Better still, smashing those nuts at Christmas!I have tried it out on a few nails, and it does seem to get a better grip on the nail head than the smooth version. I just need to be careful to keep my fingers out of the way, as I imagine a whack with this would be rather painful !At under £7.00 I think this is a handy item to have in your DIY (or kitchen) kit.

4.0 out of 5 stars Handy stubby hammer and good value

The compact size and nice weight made this stubby hammer one of my most useful tools for light DIY.One of the best features other than the size was the well molded handle, the thick rubberised shape was ergonomic and comfortable to use, the weight was good for its size so it would handle most light duty nails etc.The feature I was looking forward to actually became a let-down; the nail holder end bit, most of the nails I use were too small for it, so this feature is more suited to longer heavy duty nails where I would choose a longer hammer for anyway. The 'Milled Face' has a pattern similar to a steak hammer which makes it less likely to slip after each strike, this is great just as long as you don't miss as it will leave a bit of a mess on the surface. The claw edge works a charm for removing nails and narrowed down enough for small panel pins as well as regular nails.Overall I think this hammer is great value, it feels like one of those tools your grandchildren will find in your toolbox long after you're gone, the quality and small size soon became the hammer I use the most for lighter tasks around the house.

I ordered this as it looked like it would be a handy little tool for small jobs. I like the fact that it has a magnetic nail-holder that allows you to place the nail, tap it into the job and then hammer it in, all without risking your fingers. The waffle-iron face is good for ensuring the head doesn't slip when you're hammering hard but seems a bit pointless given that the small size means you aren't going to be using it for big jobs that require you to get a good swing. That waffle effect also means you can only use it for rough work where the finish doesn't matter or won't be visible. It is a great design for a framing/roofing hammer but that would require a longer handle. It's also rather let down by its quality. On first look it seems fine: a bit of colourful trim and a rubber handle. As soon as you take it out of its plastic bag though you quickly see that the finish isn't great and that the rubber handle isn't very rubbery at all. It feels like rubber that is many years old and has hardened with age. There are moulding marks and bits of flashing where the injection moulds didn't seal cleanly, too. Leaving them on felt very uncomfortable in the hand so I had to find a sharp knife to trim them off. Once fettled it was better but that hard rubber on the handle isn't that comfortable though does make for a secure grip. My big hands struggled with the short handle length too, but that's not really the hammer's fault: smaller handed men and most women will probably be fine.It won't be finding a place in my tool box though.

    Great for Women!

I admit that I’ve always hated hammers. As a woman with medium-sized hands, hammers have always felt top-heavy and I miss the nail more than I hit it! For me, starting hammering the nail STRAIGHT without bending it and without hitting my fingers is a big problem. This 8oz claw hammer has a wonderful grip for me (see photo) and a magnetic guide slot for placing the nails that helps me to actually hit the nail and not my finger!I discovered that the magnetic guide slot actually fits a maximum size “6d” nail exactly. (Size 6d nails have an 11-gauge shank, 0.12-inch shank diameter, 2-inch shank length and 17/64-inch head diameter.) Fatter nails can be used (they will still magnetically stick) but they lie on top of the groove and aren’t guided very well.I learned that this is a “milled-faced” (sometimes called “waffle-head”) hammer that is designed for people with problems like me to be more likely to hit the nail without bending it. The milled-faced hammer is likely to capture the top of the nail, since it will likely slide into a groove. The only problem with a milled-faced hammer over a flat-faced hammer is that if the hammer touches a surface, it is likely to leave waffle marks on the surface. Flat-faced hammers do not have that problem.I very much like this hammer and feel it will help me to more accurately hit nails. I will probably use it most to start hammering nails (such as to hang pictures and other objects) and then switch to a flat-faced hammer at the very end (if needed) to avoid possible waffle marks on my walls.I finally have a hammer that I don’t hate! Kind of rough looking, but really convenient size and nail holder

Item: 8oz Claw Hammer with Shock Reduction Grip - Mini Hammer with Milled Face - Camping Stubby Hammer, Small Nail Hammer with Magnetic, PinkBrand: WnqouSize: 6.3 x 4.33 x 1.02 inchesColor: PinkModel: Hammer-pinkI recently got the Wnqou 8oz Claw Hammer in pink, and here are my thoughts:[APPEARANCE AND INITIAL IMPRESSIONS]:The hammer is cute, but it arrived with a somewhat sloppy build. There’s a stamped black recess in the metal on the top of the hammer that looks off-center and stained. Additionally, the finish is scuffed up in various parts.[BALANCE AND USABILITY]:The hammer is a bit top-heavy, but it’s manageable. (I appreciate it is heavy enough as to not be regulated to strictly light-duty jobs.) The magnetic hold seems to work well, which will be a nice assist when tapping in nails. In my photo, I used a screw, but as long as your nail is long enough to reach the magnet, it holds the nail fairly well. Even if it doesn’t, the groove holds nicely.[DESIGN AND FUNCTIONALITY]:The top of the hammer looks a bit rough, but this doesn’t affect its operation. It’s just amusing that a “cute” little pink hammer looks somewhat jacked up.[OVERALL IMPRESSION]:Overall, it’s a decent hammer for small tasks. The magnetic feature is handy, and I love that it won't monopolize my whole tool drawer! For less than $7, I'm perfectly okay with the less-than-perfect finish.

    Good hammer for small jobs

    S. · 1 October 2024

I ordered this hammer because I just need something small (and pink) that I can use to tap in nails to hang pictures, or for other small jobs around the house. With the size and color I am hoping it doesn't end up in my husbands tool box! The hammer works well, and is small enough to tuck in a drawer at home or at work. The grip is comfortable and the hammer is heavy enough to hammer a heavier nail in. The magnetic nail holder is a very nice feature. I would have given this little hammer five stars, but the finish was not great. There was a big drip of glue on it, the head of the hammer is all banged and scratched up looking. It doesn't affect the hammer's performance, but it kind of takes away from the hammer. For $6.28, I really can't complain too much though. I like this little hammer and it will probably get banged up anyway! I recommend this hammer.

    Compact, Sturdy, Complete

The compact Wnquo Claw Hammer fits nicely in the small tool box on the bed of our Kubota RTV. So, whever we go, it is handy to pound-in a tilting road marker, or pry out some fastener. We especially like the "tap-in" nail starter feature that works with small, short finishing nails as well as longer conventional framing nails. Very solid, heavy for it's size, and really inexpensive. A useful tool. ~ The Duffian

    Good small hammer

    R.H. · 28 September 2024

This small claw hammer has nice weight for the small size and a nice grip. The magnetic nail assistance is a nice idea but can be tricky to use for longer nails and won't work at all for my short nails that are hard to hold in the first place. However the milled head is fantastic for helping the hammer strike the nails well and true. In summary, it’s a great small hammer but the magnet part isn’t as effective as I had hoped.
