4.0 out of 5 stars Vast array of sanding kit.
I am frustrated with this set, firstly it is really good with a vast amount of options for different types of material. You get a lot for your money and although no major brand they seen to do the job well. The issue I have is because of the shank on either mounting adapter you have to use something like a drill or screw driver because the adapter is too big for a Dremel type tool. This in turn means it's cumbersome to try and manhandle an 18-20v drill and sand an area of 50mm. Now don't get me wrong, if you can lay your drill down, lock it on and bring the material to the sanding disc and use these vertically I guess it could work but that's not what these sanding discs are for. I feel this really needs a shank for a Dremel and it would open up a whole new better experience.
Buy a Parts Box to Store Assorted 2" Die Grinder Discs
Assorted Zirconium Oxide, Aluminum Oxide and non woven material 2” die grinder discs in various grits: came in 10 zip lock bags with a paper label floating loose inside: and the unlabeled woven discs came all mixed up, loose in the shipping bag: thus you need a color chart (not supplied) to tell what’s what. The discs are backed by a plastic flange that screws into a bell shaped rubber adapter, that in turn can be fitted with either a ¼” smooth shank or a hex shank. The bell adapters come in 1” diameter to use disc as edge grinder and 2” to use disc as face grinder. These 2” discs are so small that they’re much easier to use with a right angle driver than a drill, though I suspect that most purchase them to use with their drill, which if so should be a lightweight 12V drill rather than a clumsy, heavy duty 18V drill. I wish they also came with 1/8” shafts, so I could use them with my Dremel.I put the fine non-woven material to the test grinding the rust off a cast iron fireplace grate; the disc did not fall apart and out lasted my battery. Before and after photos shown. The company that is selling these discs may know how to manufacture, but not how to package them. To be useful, I'm going to have to buy a 20 compartment parts box to sort and store them. Thus I am awarding only 4 Stars.
decent starter kit, but not great quality control..
As per the headline above, this is a decent starter kit. If these are tools that you will use on a professional level, I would look elsewhere. I used these to help smooth out the casting seams on my diecast cars before customizing and re painting them. You get a good assortment of grits that came in handy during my process. There are two roloc mandrels that lock in the discs, but they are cheap and off centered. I have a few from another kit that I bought years ago that work well with these discs. There are abrasive net discs that I used on some wooden jewelry boxes I am making to give them a distressed look, that worked very well for that, but did not last a long time. I have not yet used the buffing wheels included in the kit, so I can't really speak to their longevity. This kit is not the best value for your money in my opinion and I would rather pay a little more for better quality. For my purposes it worked fine, but you can get the same thing at Harbor Freight for less than half the cost of this kit. OK kit for a starter set, but not one that I would recommend...
Sanding disc set
This sanding disc set includes aluminum oxide, zirconium oxide, and non-woven discs in various grits, along with micro flap and wool discs. Designed for die and angle grinders, it features a quick-change roll lock system for fast installation and reliable performance. The discs are versatile, suited for grinding, sanding, polishing, and rust removal on materials like wood, metal, and plastic. The set includes 1/4-inch shank attachments for easy compatibility with tools.
Nice assortment of low end sanding discs
Sometimes you get what you paid for, and sometimes you over-pay. In this case, you would be over-paying for low quality product. For the mandrels, no care was taken to make sure that they were centered properly, and the threading was off just a little, so you get a lot of wobble. The rubber in the mandrels is really hard, so even if you press down a little, there isn't a lot of flex to help mitigate the wobble. The sanding discs themselves work OK, but they are low-end and wear out fast. Expect to go through several for a small job.The non-woven discs are OK as well, but they start out rather coarse and quickly switch over to almost too smooth. If these were 1/3 the price, they still wouldn't be a great deal, but at least they would be justified. At the current price of $31 as-of this writing, they just aren't a good value.
Very good set of die grinder abrasives
This is a great set of roloc type abrasives. Comes with two 1/4" backers . Buffing discs, stripping discs, sanding discs. A good set. Quality is okay. It's not 3m but the price is good. Abrasive quality seemed decent. Again, not major brand quality but if you want to have a catch all kit with everything available this is a good solution.
