A good budget keyboard
This is a pretty decent 65% keyboard. One neat feature is that it moves the arrow keys and the other four keys a little bit away from the main keys, this could be a good or bad thing depending on the individual. The keyboard itself is made of plastic, and is subsequently lightweight. The backlight works well, and makes the keys easy toi read (a little more difficult when backlight not present). The keys are all labeled with additional functions, which is a nice touch, and is always appreciated. One thing I really dont get, and this happens on many of the 65%+ keyboards is putting the Delete key up one row higher than is standard on full size keyboards, and it is the same way on this keyboard. I really do not understand the reasoning behind it but I digress. This keyboard works well, though I for sure wont be using it daily since it doesnt have VIA/QMK support.
Nice switches. Hotswappable. Good value.
I’m enjoying using this keyboard right now. The switches feel great to type on- being linear- but the force required feels slightly higher than with the typical linear red switches I’m used to. The keyboard is quiet and very pleasant to type on. No matter where I press, the keys feel quite good, especially the spacebar.I’m still getting used to such a small keyboard. If I had to identify something it’s lacking, it would be wireless modes (2.4GHz and Bluetooth). However, I believe there is a ‘Pro’ version of this keyboard available with tri-mode connectivity.I’d rate this keyboard highly for its value, especially because it’s hot-swappable. If you ever get tired of the switches, you can easily swap them out for new ones. Few manufacturers offer hot-swappable boards at this price point. While you may not get all the perks of a $200 keyboard- like custom metal or wood frames, QMK/VIA compatibility, or extra-wide layouts- this keyboard is a great way to get your feet wet before diving deeper into what mechanical keyboards have to offer.
Excellent value 65% mechanical
For the list price of around $40, this is a great keyboard. While it does lack wireless capabilities, it does have 90-degree USB C cord, is mechanical, hot swapable, and shine through keycaps. 'Keyboard is light weight and made almost entirely of plastic. RGB is definitely bright enough and as I said earlier, keycaps are shine through. As far as the actuation and sound, this keyboard has very fast/responsive actuation and sounds somewhere in between clicky & subdued or heavily dampened.Overall, I personally find Redragon keyboards to be hit or miss, this particular model is a hit due to what the company was able to put into it and still keep it very affordable. Good job Redragon!
