5.0 out of 5 stars Well made cables.
I've been planning to move my sound system around for a while so when I saw these on my Vine list I figured it would be a good opportunity to update the cables too.My turntable is a classic J A Michell Engineering Focus One from 1977 a much admired and sought after bit of British heritage (a bit like me really).Unfortunately I'm pretty sure the cables I had hooked up to it were also circa 1977 but more likely a less sought after bit of British heritage from the cheaper shelves of Woolies music department. They still worked ok but I'd noticed distinct crackle when anything disturbed the area behind the amplifier that only happened when playing records. While dismantling the setup I gave the old cables running from the pre-amp a good look over and although they still looked fine they are obviously old and well past their best so I swapped them out anyway. These are much more like it, they look very smart with their dark silver grey metallic sleeving and brushed steel plug bodies and the fit is very much better than the old ones, it takes a firm push to get them in place, they are a good fit, not an over tight one but by no means slack. The leads from the turntable to the pre-amp were changed when I had it serviced a couple of years ago so they are already good.I have to say the sound is better no more crackle obviously but in general it seems better than before, of course that could just be because I felt good about finally getting around to sorting it all out but I don't think that's it.At £7.99 these are a pretty good value, a set of 2m ordinary twin wire cables could cost a fiver or more so these are well worth the small amount extra.
4.0 out of 5 stars Reasonable set of interconnects
The cable comes in a bag branded "Cables: Quality you can trust always". The generic packaging shouldn't put you completely off though. The cable itself looks reasonable quality. With PVC insulation and decent quality terminations. At 3 metres in length it should be pretty useful for connecting up subwoofers, or running an output from a source like a computer. Anything that isn't stacked with you components. While the cable isn't audiophile grade, the sound is ok. It doesn't add any character like some interconnects but functions as expected and appears to be a step above you usual generic RCA cable.Decent value simple interconnects.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great cable
I used this cable to connect my CD player to my amp. The cable is much thicker than I was expecting and does a great job. The shielding is pretty good too, I don’t get a lot of noise even when the cable is bundled up.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality.
Nicely made, smart looking. Plugs feel secure in a variety of sockets tested.
