4.0 out of 5 stars Works wonders...
At the time of reviewing this Alfresco Planet Fragrance Spray/ Anti Bug Bite Insect Repellent Spray 50ml it is currently priced at £39.99 which personally i feel it is a little highly priced.I thought id give this a go while i was fishing as i get bitten alot and was curious to see if it worked as good as i expected it to.First of all i made the mistake of spraying alot of it on me in the house, i found the smell very overwhelming as it is really strong. So i would advise spraying it once you are out in the fresh air.Once i was out fishing i did notice i didnt have the bitey flies all around me like usual and when i got home i wasnt bitten at all so obviously it works well.I am happy using this until it runs out but it would be better if the price was affordable to all.
4.0 out of 5 stars Don't spray too close
Bought for our holiday to Spain as my son lives near a salt lake which attracts mosquitos, he's warned us. Last time we went they seemed to love the taste of my husband's legs and arms so I'm getting well prepared with anti-bug preparations to pack in the suitcase. We tried it out when we went to a Christening the other week, it was particularly warm and my sister had said she'd been bitten a few times the previous day. I sprayed my husband's arms and neck well, but regretted doing so in a closed space. I'm asthmatic and the smell of the spray irritated my breathing making me wheezy so we'll have to remember to use it outside only on holiday.
4.0 out of 5 stars Perfume, bug deterrent or both?
It's the wrong time of the year to test this against "bugs" although this being a very generic, non-scientific term I am left wondering which "bugs" exactly this is targeting. In the UK you only really need protection from mosquitoes and midges. "Bugs" is more than a little bit vague.I am not sure if this is first and foremost a perfume or a "bug" deterrent or perhaps both in equal measure? The perfume side of things is certainly very strong and I am not sure I would want to be spending a lot of time with this fragrance. Having said that, it really is down to personal preference and it must be the case that certain individuals enjoy a potent perfume. With the "anti-bug bite" side of things in mind, to me, this does have a little bit of "skin so soft" about it, the skin oil reputed to be used by some military personnel to ward off midges in Scotland. The product is quite expensive but, surprisingly is sold with free returns so you can try it and return it if it’s not for you.
4.0 out of 5 stars Potent fragrance!
I haven't yet been able to test the insect repellent properties of this spray as it's not the right weather for the gnats and mozzies to be out feasting on me. But, my observations and thoughts so far:- the spray consists of a blend of 14 essential oils (the product description says these are fragrances that insects particularly don't like - as mentioned above, I haven't been able to test the product's effectiveness on this front yet)- it feels nice enough on the skin and hasn't caused any irritation.- fragrance is very personal in that we all like/dislike different smells and the same fragrance may smell very different on different people. So, this is my view, but others may feel very differently: I don't love the fragrance of this spray but don't mind it - but it's VERY potent!- the down side of the intensity of the fragrance (for me) is that I enjoy wearing perfume but don't think you can really wear perfume at the same time as using this spray. And I don't love the fragrance of this enough to want to wear it as perfume on its own in its own right.- on the other hand, I guess potential plus points of the potency are that a) you don't need to use much so the bottle will last quite a while and b) hopefully it's too strong for the insects to want to be near it/the person wearing it!- it's pricy, but perhaps that's just a reflection of the cost of all those essential oils. And, as mentioned above, I think the bottle will last a long time as you don't need to apply loads each time.I will give it a go again, at the right time and in the right environment, to test how it works as an insect bite repellent.
4.0 out of 5 stars It's okay but
I was very pleased to receive this product, at the time I received it, it was priced at £39.99 and I consider this to be okay value for money. It was well packaged. The smell is acceptable and it may well ward off some mosquitoes. My problem is to use properly you need to spray all over and if wearing shorts and t shirts - that's a lot of skin to spray - it doesn't help as the price equates to just under £800 per litre! For special occasions - it's ideal!I recommend this product!
4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely quality perfume
This perfume contains 14 essential oils and the ingredients are high quality. It is a lovely smelling perfume and the bonus is that it is anti mosquito and you can use it as a mozzie spray. Unfortunately the price of the perfume means that I probably use it a bit too sparingly to completely deter the mosquitoes. It does seem to work though, it is a nice product.
