Love the colour. It goes with everything in my kitchen. And a good price.
3.0 out of 5 stars Good but pricey & missing key features at the price point
After using the Russell Hobbs Toaster 4 Slice for about a week, I can confidently say it performs well for daily toasting needs. The independent slots allow you to toast different types of bread simultaneously, which is particularly useful for larger households. The extra-wide slots easily accommodate thick slices of bread, bagels (though no specific bagel mode), and crumpets, ensuring an even toast on both sides. The 6 browning levels provide a decent range of control over how dark or light you want your toast, and the frozen, cancel, and reheat functions add extra convenience. The frozen function is great for those who like to toast bread straight from the freezer, while the reheat option ensures your toast is warm without over-browning. The blue indicator light is a nice touch, giving it a modern look and making it easy to see when the toaster is in use.The removable crumb tray is practical for quick cleaning, preventing crumbs from piling up at the bottom, which is a common issue with many toasters. Now, onto the areas where it falls short. Given the toaster's higher price point, I expected more premium features, such as a bagel mode, which would toast one side of the bread while warming the other. This feature is fairly common in other toasters in this price range and would have added more value, especially for those who enjoy bagels or prefer one-sided toasting. Additionally, the toaster is missing any kind of smart or digital interface, which might justify its cost further.Overall, it’s a stylish, reliable toaster with solid features, but for the price, it leaves a little to be desired in terms of extra functionality.
5.0 out of 5 stars Yum. Thick slice toasts are consistently browned to how I want them.
So, I am hearing this is too pricey, should have a one side toasting for bagels and too big.Let me say this. This toaster never claims to be a bagel toaster, and never claims to be.I review the promises it delivers, and, in that respect, it delivers on all its promises. After several uses, I find this to be a consistent toast, very smart and handles thick slices of bread with no problem. The retail price of this from a reputable brand is worth that alone. But it also senses the thickness of the bread as thin slices pop out with the same browning level as I had with the thick slices. As a bonus, the body of the toaster sports a wonderful 1950s retro aesthetic. My pictures show how the toasts come out. Its, perfect and yummy for my needs. It's a wonderful toaster. I love it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Super Stylish, Retro Vibe, Four Slice, Wide Slot Toaster
I really needed to upgrade my old two slice toaster and I'm very pleased indeed with this four slice Stylevia toaster by Russell Hobbs. Firstly, I absolutely love the sage green colour. All of my other small appliances are black, and another black box in my kitchen would have been too much. This fits my kitchen colour scheme so well. It's super chic and modern, with more than a nod I think, to a retro style. The chrome finish completes the look. It has a high quality construction and aesthetic about it. The curvaceous shape and overall design really appeals to me.I love that I can now toast four slices rather than just two, so there's no longer someone waiting their turn at breakfast time. It toasts very evenly which is the most important point, and has a great choice of heat settings. It's quick and efficient too I think. I don't have to keep turning the bread to get it an even brown all over. It has a stop button, which I use a lot because I like my toast barely done and do like to check on progress. There's a defrost function and a reheat option too.The extra wide slots are great for toasting teacakes and bagels, but what it lacks for me is the option to only toast on one side. That means overdone teacakes for me.It has the usual crumb trays which pull out at the back for emptying. I'm not a huge fan of these, as crumbs tend to stick to the stainless steel and invariably you find quite a lot on the worktop when you lift up the toaster, but I'll see how that goes. Bread makes crumbs, that's a fact.I'm also pleased that it doesn't take up a huge amount of space in my small kitchen, being 30cm wide and the buttons and levers are conveniently placed at the front which makes it neat and compact. The stainless steel flat top is particularly smart, though be mindful that being metal the whole surface is going to get hot and fingers need to be kept off it.It certainly has the wow factor for me, and it toasts bread to perfection, though it just lacks that bagel setting I was used to having. That aside, I'm really pleased and happy with it overall.
3.0 out of 5 stars Looks Aren't Everything
The Russell Hobbs Vintage Toaster might catch your eye with its retro design, but when it comes to actual performance, it falls short in a few key areas. First, the size is surprisingly large for what it offers, taking up more counter space than necessary for a simple two-slice toaster. While the appearance might appeal to those who love a vintage aesthetic, the toaster's build quality doesn’t quite match the price tag of £65.00 (Cost at time of review). One of the most notable flaws is how unevenly it toasts. The bottom part of the bread barely gets toasted, leaving you with inconsistent results, which can be frustrating when you’re expecting a well-browned slice. As well the knobs and levers also feel flimsy and cheap.Considering the price, it's hard to justify the purchase. You can find much better quality toasters at a lower price, ones that offer more reliable toasting performance and feel sturdier overall. If you’re willing to pay a premium purely for looks and don't mind sacrificing on actual toasting ability, this toaster might work for you.
