Principles of Electronic Communication Systems

Description:

About this item:

Principles of Electronic Communication Systems provides the most up-to-date survey available for students taking a first course in electronic communications. Requiring only basic algebra and trigonometry, this new edition is notable for its readability, learning features and numerous full-color photos and illustrations. A systems approach is used to cover state-of-the-art communications technologies, to best reflect current industry practice. This edition contains greatly expanded and updated material on the Internet, cell phones, and wireless technologies. Practical skills like testing and troubleshooting are integrated throughout. A brand-new Laboratory & Activities Manual provides both hands-on experiments and a variety of other activities, reflecting the variety of skills now needed by technicians. A new Online Learning Center is also available, with a wealth of learning resources for instructors and students.

McGraw-Hill's Connect, is also available as an optional, add on item. Connect is the only integrated learning system that empowers students by continuously adapting to deliver precisely what they need, when they need it, how they need it, so that class time is more effective. Connect allows the professor to assign homework, quizzes, and tests easily and automatically grades and records the scores of the student's work. Problems are randomized to prevent sharing of answers an may also have a "multi-step solution" which helps move the students' learning along if they experience difficulty.

It is a very well presented book compare to Blake’s electronics communication systems. They are somewhat alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars RF for everyone..

Excellent book at a great price. Recommended for any technician who has to work in RF or for an engineer trying to round out his knowledge base. Very easy on theory, heavy on practical applications.

Well written with good amount of actual circuit detail. Large circuit diagrams make it easier to try to understand how they work. Really good for AM & FM radio techniques, as well as introduction to digital methods. The more background you have in Analog, the more will this book be helpful. I personally found it helpful on things not necessarily involved with communication like understanding how the Gilbert mixer works. In my preference, I wish it didn't have the chapters on the Internet, cellphones, which by the nature of things can only provide an introduction, but instead used the space to delve deeper still into basic Analog & Digital radio methods. But that's just my subjective preference.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Very diverse book!

My colleague let me borrow this book. This is a really informative book! I highly recommend this book to electrical engineers and even computer engineers. This book has various topics that include basics of types of modulation (AM/FM, PWM, etc), digital data transmission, antenna design and microwave communication devices, telephone/cellular transmitters, server and internet protocols, fiber optics, and so much more. The content is very straight forward and easy to follow. There are also a good amount of pictures, diagrams, tables, and equations for each subject. Overall, a very good book to have if you want to get into communication systems or even server information technology. It will be interesting how wireless communication evolves in the next decade and perhaps this book will update itself and talk about those new topics. It's crazy how many topics this book has. It even talked about Bluetooth and WiMAX technology.
