5.0 out of 5 stars Detailed descriptions and beautiful photos
Great read before my motor coach trip of Great Britian as well as while riding on the coach. I bought many trip books from this publisher because of the organization, photo and illustrations. Gave my a good glimpse into my travels. I love the detail and easy to follow categories. I learn much about the places I visit. Overall great books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Coverage of Sights
There are so many guide books for traveling in countries around the world it can be very confusing on just what book to depend on. ( I find it easier to page through a book rather than through computer screens when planning a trip.) Over the years I have settled on two books. One is the DK collection because of its extensive coverage, both in text as well as photos, of a country. It is well organized with a country broken down into colored sections. Pages are then color coded so you can quickly find the section you need. There are also chapters on where to stay, where to eat and entertainment although I don’t always use them. The survival guide section covers things like banking and local currency with great pictures of the currency so no surprises. Although I still fumble around a good bit if paying for something in cash. By the way, the other guide book I use along with DK is from Rick Steves.

Love these books. Are very informative and contain a lot of info and pictures.
great book
These books should be treated with the same reverence as a religious text. You want to know what to see and do and how to spend your life in Great Britain, then look no further! This is the book. Behold, Genesis!
DK Eyewitness books are always great
An accurate and thorough guide. I especially like the way some towns/streets are drawn in 3-d style, which make is VERY easy to identify where you are.
As a native of Great Britain, I would choose this excellent, comprehensive, guide.
There are quite a few travel books out there for you to choose to take on holiday. I have always been a fan of the Eyewitness series who do books covering nations, regions and cities. I have twelve on my book case, including the 2004 edition of this very one! The books are updated (and undergo some cosmetic style reviews without losing their basic format) regularly and this is the 2024 edition.I like them because they have colourful photos, infographics , basic information and handy hints on where to eat and stay. Inevitably they cover only the highlights, particularly when dealing with the whole of the United Kingdom and it's four nations. My own city of Worcester's entry contains all the relevant highlights I would expect and other cities and rural areas I have lived in over my sixty odd years, seem equally appropriately covered.Easy to understand symbols, colour coding of pages related to the map of the area given and , although I know it's a little thing, the fact that the back and front covers have generous flaps which you can use as page marks , are all welcome features. For an all in one, handy guide, that fits you bag, I think this guide to Great Britain, at this price, would be hard to beat.
Very good as far as it goes
This is a beautifully-produced guidebook- lots of photos and plans. So it’s inviting to dip into and get ideas of where to go and what to see. But, and it’s a fairly big but, its focus is squarely on the most visited and popular places. Use it to show you the main sites in Oxford or Norwich. If you are interested in looking round smaller places and sites off the beaten track , it’s not going to be much help; you may get a couple of sentences on the place or nothing at all.
A nice read
I got this book as a standard useful guide for trips at home around the country to places I've never been before. It has been great at offering some insights into areas i have never been before and there are some lovely illustrations and pictures that bring everything to life. As with any guide book for a place you live though you can easily see how simple they have to keep it when you read about an area you know well however. This doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the guide book or its usefulness though, so i would still recommend it highly!
