A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER | GOOD MORNING AMERICA BOOK CLUB PICK

“Gripping, heartbreaking and impossible to put down.”—Laura Dave

A dazzling supernova of a book, it picks you up on line one and doesn't let you go until the very end.” —Lisa Jewell

From the New York Times bestselling author of Ghosted comes a love story wrapped in a mystery: an up-all-night page-turner with a dark secret at its core

Emma loves her husband Leo and their young daughter Ruby: she’d do anything for them. But almost everything she's told them about herself is a lie.

And she might just have got away with it, if it weren’t for her husband’s job. Leo is an obituary writer; Emma a well-known marine biologist. When she suffers a serious illness, Leo copes by doing what he knows best – researching and writing about his wife’s life. But as he starts to unravel the truth, he discovers the woman he loves doesn’t really exist. Even her name isn’t real.

When the very darkest moments of Emma’s past finally emerge, she must somehow prove to Leo that she really is the woman he always thought she was . . .

But first, she must tell him about the
other love of her life.

This book is a true gem that I devoured in just three days, unable to tear myself away from its pages. From the very first chapter, Walsh masterfully weaves a heartbreakingly beautiful tale that will leave readers both breathless and emotionally invested. 3.0 out of 5 stars Missing pages

N.M. · September 26, 2024

This story is very good but when I got to page number 150 it skipped to page 215. After page 215 it went back to page 183, but nowhere in this book are the missing pages!

4.0 out of 5 stars It's my opinion that the ending was a bit rushed.

S.R. · April 27, 2024

Hommie just popped the question again, what, 72 hours after finding out the truth. C'mon. All the other parts were believable, but the last bit seemed hurried and stretched.Otherwise, good read.

FIRST TIME WITH AUTHOR. WHAT A LOVE STORY. THE CHARACTERS ARE BELIEVABLE AND THE PLOT IS OUTSTANDING. I WISH I COULD ADEQUATELY PUT INTO WORDS HOW I ENJOYED THIS BOOK. AUTHOR HIT THE MARK ON THIS PLOT.

A slow start but powerful

At first I had a hard time getting into the book but once I was in I couldn't stop reading. Soo many life lessons about how people hide the emotions that make them vulnerable.

I loved it!

The Love of My Life centres around Emma, Leo, and their daughter, Ruby. Emma is a marine biologist and Leo is an obituary writer. Both fascinating jobs! They’ve been together for ten years and when Emma is diagnosed with a serious illness their lives are turned upside down. For Leo in more ways than he could have ever imagined.I really liked Leo and my heart went out to him. I can’t imagine how I would cope with coming to terms with what he discovers, and I think his reactions are very believable.I also can’t imagine what Emma went through prior to meeting Leo and I can understand why she was reluctant to tell him. It must be horrendous having to keep that kind of secret from your husband though. The truth always finds a way eventually. This is such an emotional story. It’s so full of suspense too. It kept me guessing throughout, I couldn’t wait to find out how it was all going to pan out. There are some jaw dropping moments which I absolutely did not see coming!A story of marriage, motherhood, desperation, depression, and deceit but ultimately one of true love, understanding, and hope.I loved it!This is the first book I’ve read by Rosie Walsh, even though it is her second novel. Her first book, The Man Who Didn’t Call, is on my Wishlist!

Ein weiteres Meisterwerk!

Dieses Buch war seit langem mal wieder das erste, das ich in jeder freien Minute verschlungen habe! Ich liebe ihren Schreibstil und die Story geht mir wieder einmal sehr zu Herzen.

A fine example of a well-written family drama.

Likely to appeal to fans of Linda Green's novels.Rating: 4.0/5 "The Love of My Life" is a well-crafted, hugely enjoyable and emotional family drama.Leo & Emma have been happily married for 10 years and they both dote on their young daughter, Ruby. But their idyllic world has been threatened recently as Emma has been undergoing treatment for cancer. Leo is a professional writer of obituaries and, when he is tasked with pre-writing a stock obituary for his wife, he begins to find out just how little he knows about her life before he met her.Rosie Walsh clearly has a talent for writing this kind of drama. The characters are all true to life and relatable. The dialogue is consistently authentic and natural. The author also has a firm grasp of how to create something that is dramatic without being melodramatic. In addition to the main plotline the author also raises a number of other significant socio-political topics, such as postpartum psychosis, which provide plenty of food for thought. If I were being picky, I might suggest that Part One of this three-part story is a little longer than it needs to be and that it could have been edited down without losing impact, but that really is a minor point. Overall, "The Love of My Life" is still a fine example of a well-written family drama.

Boring 🙄
