Introduction

Health is true wealth.

I have learned this the hard way.

My experiences have taught me that feeling good both mentally and physically is my greatest asset, because when life is difficult, it’s my health that holds me up. Being strong is something I am proud of and work hard at, and what I eat and how I eat affects my quality of life and my health more than almost anything else I do. I find happiness, contentment, and wellness through food, and I take so much satisfaction and joy in treating my body kindly. Eating nutritious food nourishes my body and feeds my soul.

When it comes to the food I love most, I turn to simplicity. I want all the benefits of real, nutritious food with no fillers or fake stuff. I also don’t want restrictions or complications from diets. Luckily, simple food—like fruits, vegetables, smoothies, occasional meat and fish—usually tastes best and is the easiest to prepare, too. Not to mention, it gives me joy. I don’t just eat to satisfy my hunger or for instant gratification—though of course both are happy by-products. Most important, I’ve found that eating simply provides me with happiness, health, energy, and well-being. This plus good sleep and a daily exercise routine improves my bodily functions, from easy digestion to physical strength to a clear mind. Food is the fuel that drives us. Eating delicious, organic, natural foods and sharing meals with my family where we all feel fully nourished and cared for are deeply meaningful to me. It makes me feel whole.

In life, you reap what you sow. If you give love, you will receive love. And if you eat well and take control of what you choose to put in your body, you will feel strong, mentally resilient, and comfortable in your own skin. But it’s a choice. It’s up to you. The consequences are yours alone, good or bad. Taking responsibility for my health changed my life, and I’m grateful for the courage and discipline it took to get to this point. Today I feel stronger than I ever did before. It was a long road to get here, but I’m so happy that here is where I am. I surround myself with positive energy. I am loving to myself. I really believe that we become what we think and what we eat.

The media could not be loaded. Omg I have been counting the days for this book to come out! I was overcome with PURE joy as a I flipped through the pages because I know how important this book actually is. Not only do I think the quality, photography, and recipes are top notch (best cook book 2024 no doubt) but the lessons inside are transformational for anyone not familiar with GB’s work.Giselle pulled me out of a really dark period in my life (early 20’s) her wisdom from her autobiography “lessons” was literality a life jacket - a life line for me. I was severely struggling with many of the similar issues she experienced being a young 20 year old girl out in the world not understanding what is wrong with her only to find out all she has is within herself. I learned how to not only survive but to fight for my life and the well being of the planet and world.In many ways Giselle raised me. She comforted me and inspired me with her wisdom and I am not who I am today without her influence.Now she teaches me how to actually cook. Wow.So many people would live healthier and happier eyes if only they knew their way around the kitchen. Believe me I sure didn’t and I was quickly breaking down as a young adult. I want to gift this book to all my friends navigating health and wellness especially those who want to take responsibility for their health but don’t have the right role models in their life or know where to start.Giselle is a super underrated health advocate. I really enjoy this cookbook - have made a number of recipes, including waffles, meatballs, chimichurri sauce, golden milk cookies, chocolate chip cookies, banana pie, coconut muffins, acai bowls, granola, hearts of palm, avocado and cucumber salad, the chicken broth and sneeze be gone soup, mape harissa cashews, and rosemary almonds. Stand outs have been the waffles, meatballs, chocolate chip cookies, coconut muffins, and the soup. We definitely feel nourished eating these foods, and my kids love the waffles and meatballs which are so moist.The book has really made me think more about what I put in my body, and am trying to minimize the processed food I eat - which is really hard in day to day life, and also to think about how to improve gut health, for example not eating acidic and sweet fruit together, how much gluten to consume, and to be more intentional with the meat I eat. I would say some of the ingredients may be hard to find and will be more expensive than their alternatives (almond flour and oat flour are more expensive than regular flour), but I feel much better about making waffles out of healthier ingredients at home and freezing some rather than buying ready made frozen waffles for my kids.Some recipes are pretty simple or known already - ginger lemon healing tea is a well known honey-lemon-ginger combo that is great for colds that I know from South Asian culture. Also, the egg and cheese quesadilla seems super simple and does not necessarily require a recipe in a cookbook. I also found the cookies batter did not make as many cookies as the recipe suggests so I may try to increase the amount of ingredients to make more.

Absolutely love this book!!! I love to cook and have experimented with several more complex recipes and ingredients. I think this book is a great reminder that simple, wholesome ingredients make delicious nutritional meals. The book also has great ideas for leftovers, simple combinations, and food prepping and storage. Beautiful pictures and easy to follow. Love all her stories too.

The book itself is beautiful, great quality material and nice pictures. Her story at the beginning is very insightful.The recipes are good. I have already tried a few of them and they turned out great.Some of the recipes look very simple and popular to me. I was expecting a few more elaborated ones, but overall it is a good book to have at home.

I was a bit skeptical about some of the recipes as my husband and I have never had good eating habits and these recipes are so clean. However, I have made several of the salads and just this morning the Nut and Seed bread. I was REALLY unsure about this one but as with all the others we love it! The food is tasty and easy to make. I have always been inspired by her and this book does her justice. A MUST have even if you are skeptic. Bravo Gisele!!

I’m from south Alabama where food is greasy and yummy. It’s very hard to switch to clean eating when everything is yucky compared to what we are comfortable eating. This book is full of recipes with lots of seasoning. The chicken pesto, for an example, looks and sounds disgusting and I was prepared to gag. To my surprise, my entire south Alabama family were fighting over the last pieces of lettuce and chicken. The flavor was amazing. I dare you to just give it a try. You’ll be blown away with how delicious and clean these meals are. I also feel rejuvenated and happy. The local honey trick has been a game changer, also. You’ll be overwhelmed with the amount of recipes to choose from but start with the chicken pesto and slowly work your family into the lifestyle change. I haven’t found one I dislike yet. The chicken meatballs with Hawaiian rolls were fought over too. I feel like I’m eating like a queen.
