5.0 out of 5 stars Art Teacher Study Guide
I am an artist. At least that is what I tell myself. It's important that I keep my skills up. I was in the library. Yes, it appears all my finds begin in the library. Not all of them but this one, Yes! I borrowed this book for two months and enjoyed practicing my drawing techniques as part of my morning pages. I had to have my iwn copy. This is a good book to hone drawing skills or begin a drawing practice. I strongly recommend this resource. Have fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars A worthwhile book for artists of any age
This book has many illustrations which fire up this reader to put a drawing tool in hand and draw. I like seeing examples rather than only having pages of written instructions. A hefty, hardcovered survey course of suggested tools, techniques, and examples, is contained in DK's Artist's Drawing Techniques. Pastels, markers, brush, inks, etc. are included with numerous color pages. This is one to keep for reference and/or a jolt of inspiration.
3.0 out of 5 stars Great if you know how to draw
I was under the impression that this would be like a master class in drawing that would walk me through the basics and work up to more difficult subject matter. This is not that at all. It doesn’t really teach you drawing. It just shows you examples of different types of drawings and drawing with different media. Each project is based on a picture that is too small to see and expects you to just know how to draw it.
Best book
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } This book is the best one I have found to help a person improve drawing skills. It is always close to hand for me to check out solutions to questions. It is one of the best techniques book I have with plain explanations.
Buena calidad
Muy buena calidad de materiales, los. Compré para regalo y nos encantó.
Artist's Drawing Techniques
Fabulous art books (I bought the companion painting volume too) for anyone starting out, looking for a no-nonsense, step-by-step approach on all of the basics. For someone like me, who knows virtually nothing about drawing and painting, both books are a godsend, providing information on what you need, and clear guidance on how to master the concepts and techniques for your own art work. Highly recommended.I hope you find my review helpful.
DK books are awesome.
Thankyou DK for this incredible contribution to artists. What separates DK books from the rest is that they narrate mostly through photos with supporting texts and that is how an art guide should be. The content is mostly explained through the photo of a painting and the art techniques are explained by highlighting each part of the painting and explaining the technique used in that. It is just like a guide explaining you each and every part of a painting. Most of the art guide books just show you the finished art with no explanation how it was made but this book shows you how each and every part is separately achieved with a particular technique. What I expect more is that the guide should have covered all the principles of art in general rather than focusing on the usage of individual mediums, As I feel that the usage of mediums has been explained in depth but the principles of art has been explained in very brief(for example light and shade)
Very helpful book
This seems to be a comprehensive book about drawing techniques. I think I will find it very useful, seeing that I am teaching myself to draw. This book does not include subjects such as perspective or composition. One would need additional books for such subjects.
