5.0 out of 5 stars This book will change the way you approach the test for the better

This book is probably the best resource out there if you are like me, who guarantees your math score at the 700's range but is terrible at reading. The last couple of practice tests I took (before buying this book) I was scoring in the 590's range for the Reading section. Frustrated, I decided to pick this book up to try and see if it would change anything. I read it completely, highlighting key information, marking important pages to review later, etc. from beginning to end, and it paid off. The first practice test I took awarded me with a sweet 710 for the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section. I got 5 questions wrong on the Reading part, compared to the over 15 I would get before reading this book. The book is a comprehensive guide to the SAT Reading. It covers every question in the test and gives you tips and tricks on how to approach such questions. The great thing about this book is the way it makes you think of the Reading section: instead of mindlessly reading passages, focusing on small little details and pretty much guessing when you come down to two questions that you "think might be right", after reading this book you will approach passages and questions in a much more systematical and objective manner, which greatly increases your score.Overall, I have no reason to not recommend this book. Before reading it, I always thought that there was nothing I could do to raise my score. I know how to read and I know how to circle in an answer choice, what else do I need? Well, this book tells you! If you struggle with Reading and see yourself in a plateau that you just can't get off of, I highly recommend this masterpiece by Erica Meltzer, you sure won't regret it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Daughter has test anxiety ....

To get full score consistently in most practice tests, I think students must already be good at it to take full usage of this book. Otherwise you may find book very boring. If you hate reading, sitting though 3 hrs completely focussed is not easy. Whether you give ACT or SAT , tips on how to improvise reading fast or what to do if one is slow reader can help if you follow them to a tee.My daughter has test anxiety and she told me that tips in the book helped her stay calm and apply the rules when anxiety takes over and when she can't think straight in between the test. She could finish all her practice tests before time and got perfect score in both her grammar and reading tests in all tests , but got 760 in her real SAT test. (she practiced in parks and libraries as suggested) .She could score 800 in Math as she feels it more objective than reading(anxiety takes over).

4.0 out of 5 stars I went from a 680 to 770 in EBRW (90 point increase)

I found this book extremely helpful, but also quite long and tedious. With lots of practice and Erica Meltzer's insight on the test questions, I was able to jump 90 points in my verbal section score! Good luck to all those taking the SAT in the future :)

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is the best SAT prep book for CR that I have ever ...

A.C. · July 21, 2018

This book is the best SAT prep book for CR that I have ever used, as a junior I was set on getting a score above 1500. My math scores were reliable (around 760) however, my Reading scores hovered around a 650ish. I wanted a book that focused on only the reading section and not grammar. In my past SAT, I had scored full marks on writing, but missed nearly 15 questions in reading bringing my score down to 690. If you are determined and willing to put in hours of effort to finish the book, this book will benefit you greatly. Meltzer's explanations and tricks are very descriptive unlike other prep books and include hints to easily discern the correct answer through process of elimination. Before this book I also had trouble managing time, but if you practice in a test-like environment and time yourself, timing shouldn't be an issue. In the course of 2 months in the summer, I raised my score from a 690 to a 780 in CR. Overall, with this workbook and math practice in Khan Academy and Kaplan books I raised my score from a 1350 to a 1530 in the course of one year. I highly recommend this for students who want to score high on the SAT.

5.0 out of 5 stars got my score up from 720 to 790

This book is 100 percent worth the price. Although it may seem expensive for a book its much better than investing in "general" SAT practice books like Princeton Review or Barrons. Specialized books are always better than any general prep book because they go very in depth. If you just skim this book you will not get anything out of it! You have to dedicate a lot of Time to mastering the steps listed in this book and making sure you understand it/the practice. I wish there was a practice test at the end of the book like her grammar book but doing this along with the 8 official college board tests helps alot! It boosted by score 70 points, something very hard to do in a section like reading. I have had alot of SAT tutors and none of them really knew how to teach reading but Erica does. She breaks down each questions/how to approach it. Def recommend it if you are trying to push your score up!

I had purchased this a while ago and it really did help me with extra prep for the SAT.

5.0 out of 5 stars Every answer contains a thorough explanation!

M.D. · July 19, 2019

All the topics are properly explained and full of different tips and tricks. It really teaches how to read and emphasizes a good deal of pitfalls. I recommend this book to everyone who has to deal with the SAT reading test, even if you are a pro reader, I think it is still gonna be useful for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Good SAT Reading Prep Book

J.Y. · October 8, 2019

This book raised my SAT score by about 60 points from around 670 by discussing how to approach every type of SAT reading question there are. I would give this a 4.5 if I could because of some mistakes like spelling and grammar mistakes in the book but other than that, it is great.

It’s a good book

Y.M.L. · February 22, 2018

This is the book for students who don't have any idea for SAT reading and also for the students would like to get more detail what SAT reading looks like. I suggest all students who are preparing SAT should have this book.

Worth buying

Top book for practicing reading. Added at least 150 points to my score

まあまあ。

ジ. · October 29, 2019

中で、同じ文章が使い回されてる。それを例として示しているのは、問題の傾向です。指示語問題や、言い換え問題などかな。SATには、こんな指示語問題が出ますよ、解き方はこうですよ、と、長々と解き方の説明が延々続く感じかな。とりあえず、半分読んで、置いてます。文章自体は語彙の難易度が高くよし。capillaryなど。
