I’ve followed their Substack for quite a while now and was very interested in reading their book. I decided to get the kindle version and was extremely excited to see all the hyperlinks to the articles and data referenced. This may be the best sourced and formatted informational book I’ve ever read. I’m now ordering the hardback. These authors turned out a comprehensive freakonomics book based solely on the Covid hysteria and its peripheral effects. These guys are punk-rock statisticians and I’m here for it all

Having subscribed to the WATN sub stack for years, I was ecstatic to get my hands on a copy of their book! Rivals the Real Anthony Fauci in terms of accuracy and detail. The other reviewer clearly didn't bother to read any of this book and doesn't care to understand the data behind the fear campaign on Covid.

So many people have written or told me numerous times that “epidemiology is not rocket science.” I was appalled to find that these folks did not understand the difference between the epidemiology of respiratory tract infection with viruses that do not cause viremia and viruses that move to infect the whole body, i.e., those that cause viremia.Another class of people I meet on the Internet are people who claim that “molecular biology is not rocket science.” It’s enough for such people to watch a video of a nutcase on the Internet to conclude that reading about the replication of RNA viruses makes no sense in comparison to what some unknown person said in a video. I could go on and on, so let me stop here.

This should be read by everyone. If you want to understand the insanity of the last few years, care about your freedoms and how they were attacked, or just want to support true journalism and some of the few remaining scientists with some integrity, just buy it!Knowing both sides of the argument is paramount, ESPECIALLY when one side is telling you to ignore what the other is saying. There is a lot of guff out there, but this is a resource you can trust to give you that opposing view. There's no hyperbole here, just proper analysis and therefore, conclusions that hold some weight. Everything is also referenced so you can check it out yourself!I've not read it all yet, but even though I've been following some of the covid news, there were already some nuggets I was unaware of, mostly with regards to the lengths the government would go to to twist the truth and to weaponise our innate desire to do the right thing. Truly chilling.Even if you already hate the government, you don't hate them enough. I'm sure these tactics will be used again so even though Covid may have passed, this is as good a preparation as any to inform you about what to look for.If they're are any criticisms it might be that there is a lot of explanation, and it might be a bit dry for some tastes. However, I feel that keeping emotion out of it and sticking to the facts is an advantage. For those who know about statistics there's a lot that can be skipped, but I suppose the point is to explain it properly in a way that any layperson can understand.What are you waiting for, buy it!

This book is a must read for anybody who still thinks that covid was a deadly pandemic or that lockdowns and the vaccines were what got us through it in the end. There are some really eye-opening stories of just how far Governments (especially the British government supported by official agencies like the NHS, ONS and MHRA) used crooked data to spin the fear narrative and also to convince people that the vaccines were safe and effective. There are also some amazing stories of censorship and cancellation of people who challenged the official narrative. It diminishes my view of academia who seem to have played a major role in the censorship for political reasons.There’s an amazing chapter about a BBC documentary called “Unvaccinated” that was screened in 2022, which I watched at the time. I was unaware of just how biased it was – I wish I’d known at the time. The chapter reveals correspondence between the authors and the BBC, showing that the BBC were clearly aware of problems with the programme but refused to apologise for the errors and biases in it.The book is quite long (over 400 pages) and although there are some chapters containing statistics and quite complex discussions about clinical symptoms and diagnostics, most of it is easy to read (and even very humorous in places). I don’t know much about statistics or probability, but I understood most of it. In any case for people who can’t understand some of the details there’s a brilliant final chapter which provides bullet point lists of all the key things the authors learnt about covid between 2020 and 2024. This is in itself a great aid memoire that you can use to challenge those who still, for example, think it’s important to keep getting the covid boosters. And that’s an important point because although most people are really bored of covid now and have moved on to worry about other things, it’s still the case that the vast majority of people I know still believe the ‘official narrative’ that the government presented about covid.
The definitive analysis of flawed science and statistics
This incredible book is NOT just about Covid-19. It should be used as a template to examine, deconstruct & understand how governments and so-called "experts" in the fields of statistics, medicine, science and the media conspired to frighten, threaten and coerce the British people from January 2020 until the beginning of 2022. Professors Norman Fenton and Martin Neil are able to express very complex issues via clear and compelling and inventive examples which blow apart the lies and disinformation I was fed about a disease named Covid-19 and the vaccines that followed. Although it may seem unrelated, I have discovered through Fenton and Neil's work that the same methods applied to distort the Covid narrative and the vaccines are also deployed against Israel. Disinformation is a powerful tool. It is used to control trusting people into accepting tyrannical measures that have never been tested during a pandemic, and it is also used to control a narrative around Israel, as an example, in order to shape policies that are harmful to our freedoms and our safety. I believe "Fighting Goliath" is a stand-out book filled with facts and solid interpretations and analyses that will be hailed for years to come as one of the most important studies about the 2020 pandemic. Because of the wealth of evidence that has now come to light years after Fenton and Neil wrote about it, there are no two statisticians I would trust more about any future subject. Thank you for this work.
Superb compilation
This is an edited compilation of the blogs and articles produced by Fenton and Neil with collaborators including Hudson, Engler, Hockett and McLachlan since March 2020. It has the huge advantage of documenting, blow by blow, how critical data analysis and independent thought by the authors and others has built up a robust body of understanding of the true nature of the Covid-19 ‘pandemic’ episode. Readers prepared to work through its evidence of sloppy data analysis, corrupted science, evidence-free policymaking and censorship will find the book invaluable inoculation against the next pandemic panic. As a compilation of previously web-published material, the book is a less easy read than Clare Craig’s Expired (2023), which is also excellent but does not cover the vaccine disaster or the latest thinking around excess mortality. Fenton and Neil began as lone voices questioning the data used to justify lockdowns in the UK and have ended up among those doubting that there was any genuinely novel pathogen, agreeing that the most striking death spikes were in good part iatrogenic and seeing the whole episode as a market-creating operation for dangerous but highly profitable vaccines (my words, not theirs). A very good buy!
A very significant book
I can't think of a better way of leaving a record of what really happened during the period known as the pandemic, as well as explaining and recording the "tricks of the trade" it is a primer on how to deconstruct the multiple deceptions that will be used if Goliath tries to fool us again. I will be buying at least one more copy as I am pretty certain an occassion will arise when it will be of great value to give it to someone else.
