“Whip-smart, creepy as hell, and masterfully plotted, Hidden Pictures is the best new thriller novel I’ve read in years. Destined to be a classic of the genre.” ―Ransom Riggs, bestselling author of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children
“Hidden Pictures is one of those rare gems that’s aware of the rules of the genre even as it breaks them and invents new ones. It’s a gas to read, full of wonderful new ideas, both literary and visual. This is one of those books you leave out long after finishing, just so your friends might see it and give you the chance to share it! Jason Rekulak is going to be telling us all stories for a good long while.” ―Scott Frank, Academy Award-nominated screenwriter and Emmy-winning director of The Queen’s Gambit
"For a few days, my life was completely hijacked by Jason Rekulak's Hidden Pictures, one of the best and most inventive ghost stories I've read in years. I'm already excited to read it again." ―Joe Hill
“Hidden Pictures isn’t a ghost story, it’s a scalpel that slices into our smug sense of self-satisfaction so deeply it hits bone. 5.0 out of 5 stars Well Done!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story with the pictures to help visualize everything yourself. They were haunting and beautiful and kept you entranced. What a unique and different way of writing a novel for adults. First book read by Jason and can’t wait to read others.
4.0 out of 5 stars I'm looking forward to reading Jason's upcoming release!
I REALLY enjoyed this book. Think, bought it on Audible to listen on the way to work but got hooked so I bought it on Kindle so I could binge it at home good😂I like how the author created a backstory for the character that would make it easy for others to doubt her when she started having concerns about Teddy.Catherine and Ted seem like such wonderful parents. Ted was a little rough around the edges and Catherine is a successful psychologist specializing in substance abuse and recovery. It's clear that while Catherine adores Teddy, she's struggling with the guilt of being a working mother. This book had me stressing the entire time because I didn't know whether these strange things happening in the house were real or just a symptom of the FMC relapsing. I know that was the intention behind her backstory and the author wanted us to feel that way.I enjoyed the flow of the book, and how it kept you guessing until the end. I wasn't expecting that twist at the end. While I was disapointed with how things were wrapped up, I also found them realistic. It makes sense that Teddy wouldn't want to continue having a relationship with the FMC after all the trauma they went through.Overall I thought this was a wonderful book, and I'm looking forward to reading Jason's upcoming release!

5.0 out of 5 stars so good
This is an amazing book that kept me spellbound for hours. The storyline ramps up at just the right speed and I never saw the ending coming. So many twists and turns- this book will keep me thinking and puzzling over the surprise ending for days. I heartily recommend.
4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book
I read this book in about two days. I truly enjoyed the different aspects of this book. The beginning was semi frightening yet with mystery. Then there were parts that were a bit more emotional, realistic, and relatable, and then when the mystery is gone....it is truly a wonderful storyline that I believe entails reality with spirituality.
3.0 out of 5 stars This book took a turn (for the better)
This is a tough review for me to give. When I first started reading this book I found it really difficult to get in to (either i wasn't in a good state of mind or the beginning just wasn't immersive enough for me, I'm not sure). I got about 50% through and called it quits to read other things. Months later I decided to finish it. I loved the last 50%! I'm glad I came back for the finish.*spoilers ahead*The book is about an ex addict who has been given her first job opportunity after rehab being a nanny for a 5 yr old boy in an affluent neighborhood. After a tough interview where she thinks the husband hates her, she is given the job which includes a cottage of her own on the grounds and access to the pool and grounds. The little boy, teddy, is thought to be quite advanced and to be kept on a strict schedule. As time goes on our MC keeps finding these elaborately drawn pictures- far too elaborate for 5 yrs but lo and behold she actually sees him doing it. sometimes she hears him talking to someone in his room during quiet time but there's no one there so its chalked up to an imaginary friend. Spooky right? Eventually she figures out where the photos are coming from and there in lies the big twist. There's a huge lie that she uncovers. It was definitely psychologically thrilling. My initial issues were w how the parents could be so harsh yet suddenly so understanding, her lying to people over little things (even if understandable), and mostly the way she would act crazy but the parents seemingly were able to psychoanalize it all away as if she wasn't acting totally crazy to be watching their kid. Like, what happened to their initial rudeness?! so much of it was farfetched (for a parent to be ok with) and I was so bothered by it as first but I'm glad I finished the book because this does get explained! I loved the photos that were interspersed throughout and how the author eventually puts them into an order where we can visually see a story (and not just in the minds eye). The ending was definitely where the story is at!
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent read!
I could not put this book down from the time I started it. It only took me less than 24 hours to read it and I enjoyed having the pictures for reference, it made the story more realistic!
WOW 5 Mesmerizing Stars - Just read it !!
My Rating : ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Mesmerizing StarsY’all I loved this book , it was so different and I was instantly enamoured and was fully committed to this unique and memorable story.“If you start poking your noses into family secrets, someone may bite them off .”This is my second read by Jason and I’ve learned that his writing style for me is like medicine for my eyes . His writing. Is so descriptive and visual that I truly feel I am cast as a shadow following the narrator through the story.Mallory is a very likeable character that is 18 months sober and is being interviewed for a nanny position her sponsor has landed for her .She is so nervous and desperately wants a second chance at life and putting her past behind her .Quickly things get crazy weird and there is a sense of super natural threads webbed though out the story and boy let me tell yah things get wild & SO TWISTED I think my neighbours heard my gasps !!If your looking for an interesting Unputdownable super natural thriller , look no further Hidden Pictures is great story telling at its finest and I now know I will read everything @jasonrekulak writes 🖤QOTD~ Are you artistic, good a drawing ? I’m terrible at drawing and truly admire those who can 🎨!!
