Face to Face with Wolves (Face to Face with Animals)

Description:

About this item:

The Arctic wolf inches towards you. Like you, he is torn between fear and curiosity. His instinct leads him towards the scent of your leather boots. Your instinct is to reach out to this curious white canine. Suddenly, he snarls, and you’re face to face with a wild animal. For years, photographer Jim Brandenburg has observed lone wolves by moonlight, Arctic wolves leaping onto ice floes, and wolves hunting and foraging for food. Packs of gray wolves surround his house in Minnesota. Let him lead you on an intimate journey through their mysterious world, making a persuasive case for the protection of this threatened species, and showing how wolves and humans can live together.

A must have on Wolf information if you are looking for a book to learn about them or the different kinds of Wolfs this would be the book I recommend to have. It is easy to read and takes the time to give you information the average book would not. This is a great resource book for the High School or College level for reference and has a lot of other references in the book to use. Excellent read and enjoyable.

The photography in this book is amazing! We used this book in my class with our reading unit and the second graders were highly impressed with the photos as well as the information they learned. Highly recommend! It is definitely above second grade reading level, but I had a high achieving class and they really enjoyed it.

Put together for National Geographic by Jim and Judy Brandenburg this is a great combination of spectacular photographs and easy well written concise information that is easily understood by children but definitely fun and interesting to read to them, while looking at great pictures, for the adult as well. Bears repeating that the photos are National Geographic worthy. Well done and good fun!

We got this book for my 6-year-old daughter. She is fascinating about Wolfes since last winter. This book got wonderful pictures, and intersting facts. It's perfect for her. Both my hudband and I enjoy to read this book to her. We learned a few things about wolves as well. I have to say the photographs are amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for children and adults

The photos are a good way to introduce younger children to wolves and the text can be added at any time. There is only one picture that shows wolves eating prey and it is not especially vivid. My four year old grandson was not shocked or disturbed by this.

Great book
