5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous resource for knitters of any skill level!
I've been knitting for years, but I still learned lots from this book! Patty Lyons is a great teacher and her tips and tricks are so easy to follow. The technical illustrations are very clear, and I love the Franklin Habit drawings. Whether you're a new knitter or a life-long knitter, buy this book! Get the companion workbook, too!
5.0 out of 5 stars So much to learn!
I had only been knitting for a few months when I purchased this book. I knew there was a lot to learn when it came to knitting and this book really delivers with the information!! It is easy to read, illustrations are great, and she gives wonderful explanations and alternatives. It is funny as well! Highly recommend! I reach for it often to learn new techniques, to help understand the process better, and to build my skills!
5.0 out of 5 stars This book is fantastic!
If you’d told me a year ago that not only would I buy a book about how to knit better, but that I would ENJOY it, I would have said you were full of it! But I’d started to learn how to knit a while back, and I was still struggling with some things. Saw this recommended on the Purl Together channel, and the lady there is great, so figured worst case scenario, it just ends up in my unread stack. But I was honestly hooked from page one, and this was a quick read for me. After not quite half-way thru, I started a new practice swatch, and omg, this one was so much better than what I normally put out! It was totally flat (I wasn’t twisting my yarn anymore!), and when I read the section about pattern knitting, it was like when you’re playing a video game, and you open up a new section of map and can suddenly see all this stuff that was hidden to you before. I’m still very much a beginner (haven’t finished anything bigger than a washcloth!), but I found this book to be a very valuable resource. Really helps you understand the mechanics of knitting, from how you hold your needles, how you pull your loops, and how twisting in different directions will all affect your stitch. Very cool!
5.0 out of 5 stars The expert knitting tricks all in one place!
As an experienced knitter, I was delighted to find so many easy to do tricks and techniques that will enhance my knitting skills like tidying up cast on edges and pretty slanted decreases. The knitting community thanks you Patty for sharing your skills with us in this adorably illustrated, packed with knowledge book!
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!
This is the best book on knitting I've ever purchased. So much information packed in here for such a great price! I've been knitting for 40+ years, and I learned so many great new tips. Patty takes known solutions to knitting problems and puts her own (so much better!) spin on them, and she also shares her own "unventions," which are truly priceless. My best friend and I were going to share it, but that's just not going to work. I just ordered a second copy.☺️Thank you, Patty - it's brilliant!
4.0 out of 5 stars Some fun knitting tricks to improve your projects
I do a lot of knitting, but am always open to suggestions for improvement. This book has lots of fun and practical tips on preventing errors, correcting errors, subtly improving technique, and so on. I found many of these knitting hacks to be very easy, with great results. A few others I thought were a bit difficult to follow, despite the detailed instructions and drawings. The buttonhole method I found especially frustrating. I followed the instructions exactly, but the buttonhole still had that small hole at the edge. The whole point of the hack was to avoid creating the hole, so I don't understand why I had trouble with it. It's not like I haven't knitted dozens of buttonholes before. Even with this criticism, I recommend the book. The author has a good sense of humor and is fun to read, and most of her tricks worked really well.
5.0 out of 5 stars It is very useful and helpful book I've ever purchased, strongly recommend you to get one!
I like this book as it has a lot of useful tricks and written in such clear and informative way, without me losing interest like other books that I purchased, where I look at it one and then I put it away on the shelves, but not this book. I look at it and use most of the descriptive ideas and tips almost everyday when I am knitting. Well, it even go to bed with me!
5.0 out of 5 stars Such a phenomenal resource
I have now read through this book twice and am so grateful for Patty's intuitive teaching style. Everything she presents is framed around understanding how and why a technique works. This book is definitely helping to up my skill level!
A really useful little book.
If you're self taught, like I am, this is incredibly useful. You may not need to know ALL of it, but there is definitely some stuff in here that only and experienced knitter would know. I also love the way it's set up in the way we learn to knit. I'd buy it again and give it as a gift.
Excellent! My knitting improved
This is a great book! Really helps you improve your knitting by understanding the why before the how.
Super livre
Génial. Plein de bonnes idées. Très belles illustrations.
This is for expert knitters too
When I discovered this book I thought it would be a good book to have in my vast knitting library, however, when I went to order it I wondered if it might be a bit basic for me, HOW WRONG WAS I? This is one of the most amazing knitting books I have ever come across, it has NUMEROUS tips in it and they are definitely for ALL knitters, I would rename it as "knitting bag of magic tricks", I cannot recommend this highly enough, if in doubt, BUY IT, and you will soon realise that it is worth every penny, I am an expert knitter and it has opened my eyes to all those little things that we put up with, that this book shows you there are better ways, it really is a revelation, one of the most important knitting books to be published.
Perfect book for everyone that wants to step up their knitting game!
Lots of tips and trix for everyone that is no longer a beginner. Not to say that beginners wont appreciate this book too.Well written, with great illustrations.Easy read that will leave you wanting to try alot of new diffrent techniques.
