5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect companion.
If you love knitting and humor, you need Patty Lyons' Knitting Bag of a Tricks. You will learn so much about your own knitting. Her new workbook is the perfect companion, still full of humor, but full of thoughtful, practical exercises to help you practice her tricks. It's a lovely guide, well planned out, room for notes, and even adorable stickers. I can't wait to knit my way through this workbook!
5.0 out of 5 stars Really great Book
This step by step book of knitting hacks by Patty Lyons not only shows you how to improve your knitting, but most importantly teaches you to understand what you are doing, and why whatever it is you are doing works! This may be the most helpful "how to" knitting book on the market today. The instructions are clear and the illustrations are great. In addition, the author's wry sense of humor just bubbles through the text. I am so excited about this book.!
5.0 out of 5 stars A Teaching tool at your finger tips!
I am in LOVE with this workbook! I had dabbled in the 1st book a bit, but it seemed incomplete to me. So, that this workbook is it's companion, well - needless to say, it now feels complete! It's like Patty Lyons is right here with me learning! I'm a low budget gal and workshops just aren't affordable for me, so these books are an excellent resource to really get me into the why of knitting!I'm also a learner at the core, so this style is just up my alley too! The creative aspect really makes it mine and not a one size fits all. It may seem like it's one size fits all, but because your own stuff goes into it, you get that much more out of it! I hope that makes sense.I also love how the pages are spiral bound. That makes it lay flat! Who doesn't love that! The stickers are such a cute addition and all for part of the cost - Thanks Patty!Patty, if you read this, I really want to thank you for being brave enough to put yourself out there all that time ago. Leaving your other job to peruse this wonderful past time art - is just courageous! Thank you SO very much for taking that leap of faith to put yourself out there. We are all better knitters because of your attentiveness to the craft and how it's done. I really appreciate it & I'm so thankful I found you! Michelle from Carnation WA.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic resource!
I just received this book today and have already read the first few chapters. I love to learn and as a new knitter I feel confident that I will learn a lot and really improve my knitting skills and knowledge. This book progresses along so that you truly understand each step of the knitting process and learn to read your stitches and knit swatch so that you can fix your mistakes and make changes without having to frog your entire project. All of the chapters work together to help give you the knowledge and confidence to make knits that fit you the way you want them to! I like that this workbook encourages you to write in it and make notes as you progress along. This knitting resource is a 'must have' for any library!

5.0 out of 5 stars Taking My Knitting Skills to the Next Level with Patty's Help
I am a huge fan of Patty Lyon's Knitting Bag of Tricks and was so excited to get her latest Workbook, which is fantastic. This book is designed to meet you where you are as a knitter to bring your skills to the next level. Whether you are a relatively new knitter with everything to learn, or are someone who is extremely experienced (and everyone in between), you will find easy to understand instructions, explanations and skill building exercises to make you a better knitter.I'm excited to work through the exercises and add to my skills, which will open up opportunities for me to tackle more complicated patterns with more confidence (and less anxiety). I appreciate Patty's explanations and the workbook-style of this book which adds an element of fun to the learning process. Patty clearly spent a lot of time and energy to create a book that's meant to be user-friendly and will become an often reached for treasured resource.
5.0 out of 5 stars Best resource
I have been knitting for over 60 years, thought I knew it all, but this workbook is showing me the “why’s” that go with the “how’s” of knitting. The book and workbook should be on every knitter’s bookshelf. Update: my original review was only 4 stars because I had an issue with the elastic page marker, but after the author contacted me with a video showing how it was supposed to work, I changed my review. In all honesty, this page marker does not work as described or demonstrated. Even when the book is closed, it does not mark the pages as it is positioned too close to the outer side of the book and only reaches the tabs. It was suggested I use it to hold swatches. No. I want a page marker. I understand a lot of thought and effort went into this workbook and I hope my comments will be received in a constructive manner to reevaluate the positioning of the elastic so it will mark your place both when the book is open and closed. The workbook and book (I suggest you purchase both) are very informative and helpful.
5.0 out of 5 stars Want your knits to look more polished?
Seriously, this workbook is the best for practicing the methods that give your knits a more polished look.I loathe knots in my knitting, there's a good tutorial for avoiding that slip knot when casting on. That alone was a game changer for me.I have a problem with my garter stitch looking a little wonky--or rather HAD a problem. I know why that is now. After 20+ years knitting, I've learned A LOT from this workbook and the "Tips and Tricks" book. Seriously, buy the workbook, buy the Tips and Tricks book. And if you ever get a chance to take a class with Patty, do it.
Disappointed
I was super excited to get this. However the book is damaged. The corners are bent, sticky substance on the side, and damage to the front cover. While this will not have any effect on the contents of the workbook itself - still disappointing. My orginal review was not allowed to be posted - but I do expect better quality for what I pay for.
Disappointed
I have been waiting for this book for months. So disappointed that the corners look used as does the dividers inside
