I was just browsing Betty Crocker cookbooks & this caught my eye because it was simple recipes. When I opened it I noticed the old style print, pictures & recipes. I'm over the moon! This is actually THE cookbook my mom had so many years ago! I have been searching for it but I think she got rid of it long ago. I'm at excited I finally found this!I will mention that it's written in the 1950s & is written specifically for & to homemakers. The verbiage it's even quite different but that's part of what makes it such an interesting classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Beginner's Cookbook

This book is not for the experienced and savvy cook. It has fairly basic recipes, and given the era it was written, mid 1950's, the recipes take advantage of boxed mixes and cereals and the like. But it also has some scratch recipes, and very good instructions for cooking basic items, like all kinds of eggs. It has useful items too, like how to make honey butter. I mention that because a while back it took me a while to find a honey butter recipe. The cookbook is also heavy on presentation of foods, with pictures to demonstrate a pleasing plate or fun kid garnishes. I liked the book. But again, if you are looking for complex cuisine, this is not the book for you.

This was my mother's favorite cookbook. I started using it when I was 30. At age 78 today, I still like it and use it, though some of the common ingredients are no longer available and some sizes of common ingredients have changed.

I had a red and white hardback 1940’s Betty Crocker cookbook that I used till it fell apart. This electronic version comes close with all its simplicity and true-to-original-version tips and helps, and so many recipes I remember from my hardback version. So glad I got this new version.

So pleased

So good! I love it, im not a great cook but the instructions are easy to follow and make sense. Great recipes that are interesting and delicious.

These recipes really do go together quickly. I reduce the salt & fat, & the recipes are still good.
