Praise for Heroes: A Novel of Pearl Harbor:
* "Gratz does his usual splendid job of creating the visceral drama of battle alongside fully realized characters. He handles the theme of heroism well, while not straying into the didactic, and is especially good at depicting the enduring friendship of the two boys as, together, they experience the date that will live in infamy." --Booklist, starred review
"Vivid... fast-paced. The humanity of the characters and the on-the-ground perspective evoke sympathy for those who perished in the attack... A propulsive wartime story with an earnest protagonist at its heart." --Kirkus Reviews

5.0 out of 5 stars Birthday present
This book was a birthday present for my grandson. At the end of the school year, his class was studying World War ll. He found it interesting as both his great grandfathers had served.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book.
Good story filled with lots of action and suspense but too short in my opinion. I'd recommend it to anyone.
5.0 out of 5 stars Quick read
It’s a short story with a girl protagonist during WWII. If you or your child is a fan of Alan Gratz’s historical fiction books, you will enjoy this story.
3.0 out of 5 stars This is a short story, NOT a full-sized book
TL:DR—This is a promotional short story written for Scholastic. It is not a full book and not worth the price unless you are a collector.Judging by the high prices online, I assumed it was a standard book similar to the other Alan Gratz books or perhaps even a longer one. Instead it is a short backstory for one of the characters in another story. The high price is due to its rarity since it’s no longer in print rather than its content. I should’ve paid attention to the page count.
5.0 out of 5 stars Five Stars Reason
I love Alan brats books and this one was truly remarkable. The way it builds the suspense and gives it off at certain points in the book is awesome.
1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the $$
Don’t buy it’s a scam, mine literally came with a sticker on it for 50 cents. I bought it used for $15.
