Selections from
C.S. Lewis' Little Book of Wisdom:
"If God had granted all the silly prayers I've made in my life, where should I be now?"
"Surely arrested development consists not in refusing to lose old things, but in failing to add new things…"
"Do not dare not to dare."
"We are mirrors whose brightness is wholly derived from the sun that shines upon us."
"I didn't go to religion to make me happy. I always knew a bottle of Port would do that. If you want a religion to make you feel really comfortable, I certainly don't recommend Christianity."

Editorial Reviews

Review

"This charming volume of quotes from C.S. Lewis's works includes his Christian apologia (Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters, Surprised by Joy) and his fiction (The Chronicles of Narnia, "The Space Trilogy"). Editors Assaf and Leahy have selected brief quotations and placed them in thematic groupings relevant to modern Christians, such as "Living a Full Life with Christ" and "Recognizing Sin." Quotes are mainly short but pack punches: "Gratitude looks to the past and love to the present; fear, avarice, lust, and ambition look ahead"; "As image and apprehension are in organic unity, so, for a Christian, are human body and human soul." A complete Lewis bibliography is included for those interested in following up on works quoted. Also provided are several blank pages at the end of the volume for readers to jot their own thoughts. These well-chosen Lewis quotes will inspire readers and prompt them to make their own spiritual reflections." --Publishers Weekly, (Sept. 2018) ― Reviews

5.0 out of 5 stars Timeless Advice

This is a little book full of the wisdom that C.S. Lewis collected and gave out to his many readers. And I absolutely love it. Compiled by two women who absolutely love Lewis’ works.Arranged by topic, these quotes are collected from all of his books, letters, and essays. Fiction and nonfiction, it doesn’t matter. Fiction is a wonderful medium for conveying truth, and Lewis knew this very well. And all of these quotes inspire a deep desire to learn more about the God that this man knew so personally.I would recommend this to anybody who just needs a word of comfort or knowledge. Lewis has sprinkled his passion for God and the wisdom He imparted throughout all of his writing. And of course we will all soon pass through the veil. The question is, who will be let into Aslan’s country?

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful gift book.

The media could not be loaded. The author is well know for his brilliant mind and accomplished writing and speaking career in the mid- twentieth century England. An Oxford scholar and humble man who found life in mid-life through Jesus Christ. That is common knowledge in various circles. But the aesthetics of the book- the cover, the shape and size, how it’s nice to hold and the pages with white space truly make it a gem. I bought another one and most likely will always have an extra on hand for that last minute gift. Suitable for mature teens and adults of all ages.

4.0 out of 5 stars a fun collection

This was a fun collection of writings by C.S. Lewis. As I have always enjoyed his work, I decided to pick this up as a quick read through at different times in my life.It is filled with beautiful writings that make you smile, cause you to ponder, and even feel at peace. As most people know, C.S. Lewis was a Christian so this does contain a lot of writing about God, faith, and Christianity. I hope that does not deter you from picking this up.An absolutely beautiful collection if you are looking for an idea of who the man was. Here are some of my favorite pieces from the book.

I bought this for a teen girl that is not into God a whole bunch, but listens. I was told that she read a few and they made her cry good tears.

Perfect Gift

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my father. It was a lot smaller than I expected when received (about the size of my palm) but great gift. I see it being left on his desk and picked up as a break from work.

It's the concoction of CSL's quotes, which has been & carefully picked for the readers.

Externally: I like the way the book is made to fit our pockets. It's a pretty pastel blue-white book with roughly 400 pages, providing one quote per page - aesthetically very pleasing to the eyes. The paper quality is good and the cover is neat.Content: Needless to say, as for the content, if you're a Christian and have already read CSL's books - this is for you! If not, then it still serves as a good book full of quotes that help you along the way to becoming a better person. I admire the works of the people involved in the compilation, must have been a cumbersome task to pick an author like CS Lewis and examine all his books to produce this book. You can use this as a devotional if you want - reading & meditating a quote a day.PS I suggest reading CSL's books too because they're just that good and then to purchase this, or not. Either way, purchase it.

Thoughtful little book.
