I bought this book after seeing one of the quilts in a quilt show. I'm typically satisfied if a pattern book has at least 2 patterns I want to make. This one has at least 5! The book starts with lessons you will use to make the pictured quilts. Instructions are clear and photography is really good. You will especially like this book if you enjoy tree quilts.

I love this book! This is a different slant on cutting shapes for blocks. The quiltmakers have you cut a rougher shape, not a pinpoint exact shape. All of the quilts are beautiful, but the Tree Quilt on the cover sold me. It's a gorgeous feast for the eyes. If you're going to buy one new quilt book this year, this is it. You won't be disappointed!

It's ok. I wasn't too impressed at my first readings. It's a little more complicated that I prefer. I was expecting new designs with large pieces that maybe could be used with layer cakes. I am sure that I will appreciate it later. I still look through it about once a week.

Beautiful designs, and it is freeing to be able to cut without following specific measurements. However, that doesn't mean the quilts are any faster to make than those cut with very specific measurements. There are so many nice patterns in this book that it is hard to know where to start. Also, some of them use scraps, which is always a good thing!

What a great book. I hope to be inspired to create something as beautiful as the quilts Ms. Mayr has made. The piecing techniques are presented in a way that make you ask "Why didn't I think of that?" Anyone with a modicum of quilting experience would be able to use her technique. I am not a creative designer but this book gives me hope. :)

Autant le premier livre de Bernadette Mayr traduit en français, m'avait enthousiasmée, autant celui-ci m'a déçu.Manque d'inspiration, alors que le premier était très original et plein d'idées.

Beautiful quilts, nice instructions. This book definitely exceeded my expectations. The quilts are modern as per the title and the instructions are well-written. I like the fact that the book doesn't waste page space with fluffy text or quotes - it just gets to the job of explaining how to make each of the beautiful quilts in the book.
